ABOUT ME: I'm James Dunne, a runner, sports rehabilitation therapist (similar to physical therapist) and coach based in the UK (Norwich and London).

Since 2007 I've been working with athletes focusing specifically on helping distance runners and triathletes overcome injury and improve performance through developing their individual running technique.

Running biomechanics and physical therapy are real passions of mine. I love to help runners run strong and stay injury free.

It's wonderful to see how your channel has really taken off over the last couple of years James, now almost at 190K subscribers so fast approaching the big 200K already, it's incredible... BRAVO!!! Really impressive!!!! And obviously a testament to the quality of your content!

Kipchoge is just an absolute machine. That form alone would save him precious seconds per kilometer. I am in awe.

I think we've found out quite a bit. Kipchoge has put out more 1st place finish in the marathon than any man in history, whereas Bekele struggled with injuries later in his career. That says a lot.

When Kipchoge is swinging his arm forward, his upper arm never comes forward past the vertical line at the side of his chest. I believe he's transferring that energy into increased stride length🤔

I would argue that the differences that are pointed out in this video are things that don't really matter in running efficiency as they seem not to prohibit very similar performances.
It is like the observation bias of surviving aircrafts in WW2. Engineers looked at where the planes where most hit and used this information to reinforce those areas. However they only looked at planes that had made it back, actually suggesting that the machines could take a hit in those specific areas and still survive.
So the interesting thing would be to identify what these runners do the same from a technique point of view that really makes a difference in their speed, compared to a less elite runner.

RAW TALENT AND BEAUTY OF RUNNING GO TO BEKELE. EFFICIENCY GOES TO KIPCHOGE.

Bekele has the ultimate phenotype for the long distance running. His long legs and short body are such a cheat code. He just will never have the strength kipchoge does because he's too injury prone at theonger stuff.

Bekele has the superior form to me, unmatched leg swing

Interesting that both of the men are shorter than Radcliffe. Guess that means that one's height won't be a barrier to success!

3:20 what shoes is that guy wearing? Looks like some kind of minimal/barefoot thing going on.
