I wish we'd had a decent athletics coach when I was a kid - we were left to assume that the best athletes were just "naturals, " rather than focusing on developing the technique of all students.

12 years of physical education in school and they never even taught us how to run correctly. I had to learn this stuff at 30 years of age

The easiest way to train yourself for this type of foot strike is to remember that running is not a pulling motion; it’s a controlled fall, so the lean forward is what’s important in making sure you’re “controlled falling”.

Omggg just her saying “under and not in front”, made everything CRYSTAL CLEAR!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 that’s the difference between this short and the other long videos explaining the forward lean. Great video ❤

I've always get shin splints. Thought it was due to my height. I may actually start to enjoy running. Thank you

For me running in Barefoot shoes really fixed my form, since they force you to run in a more natural manner (shorter steps and no heel strike). I did not have any (running related) injuries ever since I bought them.

it feels so natural too, like your body automatically moves if you put yourself in that slight leaned forward position

Please, please keep doing videos like this. I love running but my my technique is horrible and is causing shin splints and foot pain from poor technique. I'm really working on better form so I can enjoy running again.

Perfect timing for this tip. Amateur, semi-regular runner and just about to pick up my training a bit more. Helpful and will try. Thx!

I've been battling shin splints all year, on and off... I'm guilty of that overstepping. I tend to do it to make up for my lack of speed

You are the best coach I have ever had! Thanks so much for sharing your expertise. As long as you keep posting, I will keep watching.

I think this is exactly what is causing my nagging 'injuries.' Every time I increase my mileage I'm getting VERY sore hips & legs and I've actually tried to focus on this exact form because I thought it might be helpful - I didn't know it was called a negative foot strike but something told me I needed to start doing this to avoid pain.

As a much older guy getting back into sprinting for health, this is great info. It's a simple concept but will take some getting used to.

THIS ADVICE HAS DEFINITELY HELPED ME. MY GOD, I AM SO HAPPY I FOUND THIS VIDEO. THIS IS DEFINITELY GOLD. I USED TO SUFFER FROM INJURIES AND LOSING STAMINA QUICKLY, NOW I CAN RUN MORE WITH LESS OR NO INJURIES AND BETTER STAMINA.
