A few years ago, I fell in love with a pair of booties but they were well over $100. Stuck them on my wishlist and checked on them periodically. They went on clearance a few months later -- for $8! So yeah, I bought them. 😁
(...and I still wear them often!)

i've found that shopping online actually helps to stop me from impulse purchases, compared to going to stores in person. when i go to the store, i feel obligated to buy something, otherwise i feel guilty. i can't even imagine the amount of times i've bought something just because "well, the trip will be wasted if i don't get anything." pretty much all those items i purchased have since been decluttered...because i never wore them!

I'm trying.... when online i now add stuff I like to the basket as I go along. Then leave it for a while. Then delete anything I don't actually love.

I have so many shampoos, conditioners, shower creams, beauty products and I NEVER empty them. I just keep starting the new ones. My goal now is use everything before I buy again.

Actually, just watching you, Shelbizzle, and some other minimalists/minimal waste people I have already started to notice and avoid a lot of impulse purchases. It's not a 100% success rate, but I'd say I've knocked it down at least 50% so far. I have a planner that I am tracking my budget in, and that has been helpful too.

My husband always teases me about my lists. He calls me the list queen. I make grocery lists, daily cleaning lists, weekend to-do lists, but it saves us time, and money in the long run!
I've also done this about buys that might end up being impulse buys. I need a few items of fall and winter clothing, so I have been slowly adding the needed items instead of buying them all at once, to ensure they are still needed items, and not just a want. I also will use the apps for local grocery stores, or other retailers, and load my list into them (like the Wal-Mart or Kroger grocery pick up) compare prices via the apps, and then I know the prices to base my budget off of and where I can get better coupons at.

I love the idea of only using cash, you're right, im more inclined to save it when I can see it. I've been taking out cash and telling myself that whatever i have is what I can spend that specific week.

I just came to realization of how much I spend on things that I don’t need. Shopping some how became my escape of reality, it help me feel good to buying new stuff with the idea of buying new thing for ‘new me’. Nothing feel as good as when you swiped the brand new lipstick for the very first time. I also bought clothes that smaller than my actual size because they are looking pretty and my excuse is I bought these clothes to motivated myself to loose some weight and I will feel pretty, of cause it never happens those clothes are still somewhere in my wardrobe with tag still on and I still stay on the same size as the day I bought those clothes. I’m aware I have a problem so last year I decided to tracked everything I purchased and started divided my income to separated bank account. It does help me spend less but I’m still buying. I seriously need your video, thank you very much.

You said “shopping ban, for one, 2 or even 3, ”
I was thinking “weeks??!?” How’s that possible, holy shit.
THEN YOU SAID MONTHS I WAS LIKE 🤯

I should probably do that... but shit. Impulse shopping is one of the only ways I have to emotionally soothe myself.

Which I’m very aware is sad.

I cut way down on online shopping. I keep a small Amazon list, and plan to buy on there a few times in 2019 only.

I still go out to the mall but what's helped me is getting cash out once a month e.g. for weekend spending. That way I'm sticking to the budget I set myself.

Lists and cash have been a lifesaver for me. Every month I withdraw my food budget in cash and use just that to buy my food. If I have leftover money I either treat myself or transfer the money to the next month so I can withdraw less. Also, I keep an envelope in my wallet where I put all receipts so I can look back on my spending habits at the end of the month. (cause bank account statement doesn't show the 10 bags of doritos :D ) . And i have easily accessible notepad in my kitchen so whenever I run out of something I can quickly write it down. saves me time and money
