There are 50 confirmed cases of melted cables to 120, 000 total sales. Not a huge risk. The cables are lose and get bad contact, making them overheat and melt. Make sure to plug it in ALL THE WAY!!!

I have an i9 14900kf and the 4090 and its fine. It doesn't get overly hot. All these comments are from peeps who don't own a 4090.

since it is a 3 and half slot card, would Nvidia mind to include it's own power converted straight to 110~220VAC? that will significantly lessen the stress on the system and it is easier now to troubleshoot issues on the system

Its just the connector. every single one that has had this issue is fixable, reputable repair shops just remove the old power plug and solder in a new one. the card is not damaged.
