To all the titanic experts in the comments this was made before the wreck was found so that’s why it’s one piece.

The reason why Titanic in this movie is still in better shape then it really is is because it wasn’t found until 1985. Nobody believed that it split in two or lost the funnels until it was found. Although the survivors did say it did split nobody wanted to believe it.

In a *parallel universe, * this was the most amazing recovery in History.

At the time Clive Cussler wrote his novel, Raise The Titanic we didn't really know what condition Titanic was in. Now the book and movie exists firmly in the realm of "What If..?". the best scene in the movie, no CGI just good old practical effects

Being inaccurate, this scene is truly beautiful and makes me happy

Fun fact:
This movie was filmed a few years before they discovered fhe wreck so thats the reason why the ship is not in half and the damage doesn't look accurate

Even if it is inaccurate, this scene is still beautiful and touching

I’ve been a Titanic geek since I was a kid & when this movie came out I drove my mom crazy about it until she finally took me to see it. Watching & hearing this scene in the theater was amazing.

For a 1980 movie the effects are actually really cool

I remember when this came out and saw it in the theater. I plays better on the big screen. The models didn't look as fake, the grainy nature of film provided some masking, and the sweeping score by John Barry really provided a great deal of emotion that filled the theater. This was about five years before the ship was found, so people actually discussed the prospects of raising the old ship, not knowing it had broken into two pieces. My favorite scene - this was after all during the Cold War - is when the Soviets lay claim to the raised ship, and the Americans bring on the "Surprise Package" to frighten them off. Anyway, go easy on the old film. It was a nice piece of fantasy from a simpler time when people were willing to suspend belief to be entertained in a movie theater for a few hours with their friends and family.

I know how historically inaccurate and impractical this scene is but it’s still so beautiful and gives me chills. It’s so nice to see the Titanic mostly intact and being raised from the ocean like a phoenix from the ashes, and it’s also so satisfying to see her get towed into New York, it’s as if she’s finally completing her journey. The music is so moving and suits the scene perfectly and the special effects are incredible. Hopefully the model used in the movie gets restored soon.

I remember seeing it on TV. This scene is impressive still. The model work is amazing.

Does no one else not find this more haunting than anything? Like digging a loud, rusty decaying monster from the grave gives me chills

Me:

Titanic: Hey wake up! You hit your head pretty hard! What? Iceberg? Jack? Rose? Stop talking nonsense sailor we have a voyage to New York to complete.

I just watched this video like 2 weeks ago and in my opinion this is the best scene. Thank you for posting this!

And Rest in peace to all 1, 500+ people who died on that fateful day.
