Yes you (or I) could experience a sexist boss who refuses to promote us and chooses a man instead, that’s unacceptable, but it does not necessarily reflect the greater picture. If one hires on a basis of race gender nationality etc to be more ‘exclusive’ that’s fine to an extent, but when you choose someone on these factors over someone for their qualifications then no matter how good your intentions you are doing exactly what said discriminative boss did
