Carbs are the biggest problem. Unless you are a builder, a body builder, or an athlete you just canot burn enough to stay healthly. Carbs will spike your insulin - that is an indelible problem for most people. ANd any kind of fast carbs is potentially bad even for athletes. BUt wait there is more - it turns out that when you are fully adapted to a natural ketone diet, you get BETTER performance from them that blood glucose. and this it from Dr. Tim Noakes who is professor emeritus in the Division of Exercise Science and Sports Medicine at the University of Cape Town. Carbs give you nothing you cannot get from protein and fat. Carbs is nurient poor and not essential.

Being in ketosis is our natural state given that we are foremost hunters that hardly ever ate anything but meat. If we could find something sweet we probably ate it but it was very rare 10000 years ago. Our physiology have not changed much in such a short time frame. What has changed is readily access to food full of carbs. Carbohydrates will cause a spike in blood sugar, which in turn leads to an increase in insulin production. Insulin is a hormone that facilitates the uptake of glucose into cells and signals the body to store excess energy as fat, particularly when glycogen stores in the liver and muscles are full. This process is one of the reasons why high-carbohydrate diets are often associated with weight gain. But the main reason it is a problem for us is that carbs are addictive and that is why so many want to defend them while in reality they cause many problems and are non-essential for us.

There are three categories of carbohydrate molecules. Sugars, starches, and cellulose. Two of those will raise your blood sugar and insulin levels, and the other is indigestible matter that ferments in your gut. Higj insulin puts you into an anabolic state for adipose and accumulates glycation, systemic inflammation, and arterial endothelial damage.

People who come from the sports physiology world just don't understand enough biochemistry to know that their understanding might work great for elite athletes for whom performance is their top concern, but for people who want to lose weight or optimize their healthspan, carbs are terrible.

I put zero carbs into my face and I'm less miserable than I've ever been since learning how to eat in a way that's appropriate for how my species evolved.

I was only able to lose 102 lbs with carnivore/keto. Not with “balance “. I cut seed oils and within weeks I wasn’t having to take 1600 mg a day of ibuprofen profen. Also, an apple/banana etc… will make me SUPER hungry and I easily over eat with sweets. Everyone is different

Carbs are the main problem most of the world faces. Yes there are a small% of people who can eat lots of carbs. Lets agree you do not have to eat any carbs to be healthy not so for protein and fat. Essential amino acids essential fatty acids yes essential glucose fructose galactose does not exist. Everyones level of carbs before they become toxic is different but for many it is below 100g. There is no scientific evidence that fibre does more good than harm. You can be healthy on 0g of fibre. Irritable bowel syndrome and other inflammatory bowel disease resolves when you remove fibre despite the widespread myth that is propagated. Carbs :the dose is the poison. An Apple a day keeps the doctor away, 5 apples a day the doctor you will pay.
