Ontario Diagnostic Day 3: Avoiding fertilizer burn and helping waterlogged plants stay afloat
Показать описание
It’s time for Day 3 of Ontario Diagnostic Days!
Diagnostic Days presenters will also guest on two live and interactive episodes of The Agronomists on Oct 17 and Oct 31. There will be plenty of crop diagnostic insights and opportunities for CEU credits in the weeks ahead. We’ll have info on CEU credits during each episode.
2022 Diagnostic Days was a transition back to in-field events, combining Southwest (Ridgetown), Elora and Eastern Ontario (Winchester) Crop Diagnostic Days into one hybrid provincial diagnostic day event. It featured eight 30-minute sessions relevant to farmers, crop consultants, and retailers. Four CEU credits will be available for those attending the in-person event as well as those who watch the sessions virtually.
This event and series is being brought to you by the partnership of the organizing committees and OSCIA, OMAFRA and University of Guelph/UGRC, along with sponsors: Grain Farmers of Ontario, Agris Co-operative, BASF, Bayer/Dekalb, Corteva/Pioneer, Great Lakes Grain, Maizex Seeds, The Mosaic Company, PRIDE Seeds, RealAgriculture, and Syngenta.
Episode three kicks off with OMAFRA corn specialist Ben Rosser and soil fertility specialist Colin Elgie. Together, they help growers "feel the burn" as they share tips on how to diagnose fertilizer injury and manage fertilizer in strip tillage. Next up is University of Manitoba professor Mario Tenuta. He dives into the effects of waterlogging on crop performance. He also shares management insights from University of Guelph associate professor David Hooker and floats out various recovery-management strategies for corn, soybeans and wheat.
