In a quaint village nestled within Japan's mountainous landscapes, lived a wise Zen monk named Tetsuo. Tetsuo dedicated his life to prayer, meditation, and spreading kindness throughout the community. The villagers held immense respect for him, except for Isamu, the village's bully. Isamu derived some twisted pleasure from annoying Tetsuo, in hopes of witnessing the monk lose his composure. What followed would shock the entire community, leaving them touched by the remarkable turn of events.

How does this apply in today's world? By not reacting people will take undue advantage of you, they will teat you like a doormat, a coward, walk allover you, pull you down. Its a beautiful story but cannot compare a human being to a stream. I would prefer to 'Respond' to the actions in an appropriate way and only go for no- reaction only if the situation feels that way :)

Zen monks wear black and live in Japan where there is Japanese architecture, many pictures of which are available online. Please inform the artist. Thank you . A Zen monk does not wear Theravada robes, or Tibetan robes.

Sorry, not realistic. One will not feel greater calm but upset, anger, fear, hatred will stay inside and just become those "ROCKS" inside one, worse than rocks outside. Outside rocks come and go. Inside rocks are in you all the time. REACTIONS are physiological, built in safety, survival mechanisms and can't be stopped. You are an animal NOT a stream. The understanding part is true and beautiful but can't be done in the moment of "attack". Holding back reactionary words or actions will be cowardly and just encourage further and more intense abuse.
