I think the bigger issue is that society made it harder and harder to afford kids. Constantly blocking new housing construction to please nimbys that want to raise their homes' resale values is not helping.

The issue is not having children, it's the economic structures in place that have priced out our basic functions being challenged for viability. We used to function on a single income and have families, getting that back, should be a priority.

To be fair, if you don't love the idea of being a parent, if you don't have the resources to maintain children, if you don't have the discipline to do all the work necessary to raise children, and if you are not virtuous enough to be a good enough role model for your kids...

... then yes, you should be convinced to NOT have children!
