Ehhh idk if I agree with him on this. If I say the sky is blue because I dont have time to explain it to you is not rly a valid reason to expect someone to be open to listening to you. Closing conversations creates ignorance and at that point u might as well have not even brought up ur opinion in the first place unless ur comfortable speaking about it or being challenged on it.

Convincing is a good way to gain conviction or gauge whether your conviction is correct (bounce your ideas). As long as you (the convincer) stay objective, consider the merits of the arguments, and be able to differentiate when the other party is being stubborn vs insightful.

If you only self-analyze, you risk missing things. You do so because you’re either over-confident or afraid of others benefitting from your ideas. What you should focus on is doing whatever it takes to get to truth, whether that’s analyzing yourself and/or debating others.

I think convincing is necessary when you want someone to do you a favour. But if you're the one offering something or even yourself (like in dating), then yeah it makes sense to stop convincing, and just have conviction that you have/are the shit
