Using a roll seems a lot better than what I have at present which is either a hose which I have to hold onto the tap or filling up with plastic containers and then putting it into the vehicle.

Well, this is NOT the answer because with a STOP VALVE the hose is full of water until you walk down to the tap to turn it off. You then have to walk all the way back to then try to drain the hose, which is hard as the STOP VALVE stops air getting in..!!?? What I have is a simple VALVE to stop the water and the OPEN it to let the air in to drain.
