Been keeping fish for over 20 years. My first set up was a Multi tank and I have had one going in some description for, pretty much, most of the time since.
They are so entertaining and interesting.
I would recommend them as a beginner fish without question (the only thing I would suggest is that you have hard, alkaline water).

I have a 36 gallon bow front black/white sand capped dirted tank that will be moderately to heavily planted. Hygger Plant light, some pygmy chain sword and stem plants around the back...white sand pathway. How many Bolivian Rams do you think i put in this tank? How many if a did dither fish, corydora and few shrimp. btw since this seems to be an odd size tank when looking for stocking options should i use the 29 or 40 (bc its planted) gallon recommendations? Those seem to be the most common sizes recommendations are given on.
