The JBL Charge 5 portable bluetooth speaker was just announced in 2021 but it's predecessor still has plenty of power. In fact, the main driver is fed with the same 30 watts as the new JBL Charge 5, which also has a separate 10 watt channel powering it's newly added high frequency driver.

Video showing how to disable the DSP aka activate "Low frequency mode" plus a short bass test illustrating the effect. The new JBL Charge 4 is part of JBL's 2018 lineup which consists of JBL Go 2, JBL Clip 3, JBL Xtreme 2 and JBL PartyBox.

Video showing how to disable the DSP aka activate "Low frequency mode" plus a short bass test illustrating the effect. This can be done for fun to watch the driver and passive radiators showing extreme excursion or to achieve low bass response at lower volumes when used with an equalizer or bass boosted songs. With normal songs you don't get any benefit! *Beware this is not a safe mode for the speaker, it can excessively heat up, bottom out and get damaged. Use with caution!!*

Honestly, it sounds worse when I enable it. I notice the passive radiators definitely shake more without it enabled, I am using an equaliser with some bass boost and keeping it off gives better low end and mids. This is listening to fabriclive 37, a classic dubstep album with a lot of subbass emphasis. Not sure if I'm doing it wrong or what, but someone else said that turning the speaker on and off resets this function, is that true? Cheers in advance for the video and your response.

Suggestion for people who have an iPhone, bass sounds better if you don’t use this function and in music settings on your phone change EQ setting.

This function is only meant to be used in very particular cases.

If you do Bluetooth and Volume Up (+) it resets the speaker...meaning it turns of and when you turn it on it will disconnect from your phone...meaning you will have to pair it again
