Aftet Qui-Gon passed away, I always felt that only Yoda and Obi-Wan among the Jedi Council still trusted Anakin more.

Unlike a lot of people, I actually like and respect the Jedi Council for the optimism and caution during the war. They didn't want to fall to the darkside and get caught up in it. I can also see why Mace Windu was weary of Anakin in the first two movies, but grew to respect him, as Anakin did have emotional attachments and wasn't brought to the Jedi temple as a baby, therefore his emotions can cloud his judgement more often then other Padawan or Knights. His apparent anger and frustration at the separatists during the war could also probably be sensed by the other Jedi as well. But as Anakin gets more mature, his anger is somewhat controlled, and tries to be more reasonable, hence why Windu and Yoda begin to respect him. Especially during this scene where he's shown to acknowledge their decision and respect it.

On second thoughts, maybe Mace Windu did begin to trust Anakin, but during the Clone Wars until the events of Episode 3. His trust in Anakin began to decrease probably because of the burden and strain of war.

I feel if Qui-Gon had lived, he would've been the father Anakin needed instead of the older brother of Kenobi. He would have more confidence in Anakin than Obi-Wan did in this scene and I think Anakin woild look more to Qui-Gon than Palpatine.

I actually sort of like seeing Anakin on the Jedi Council. He would've been a good stand in for Qui Gon and Dooku's thoughts of the Jedi Council, a sort of good counter balance. But Palpatine got to him first, if Anakin didn't turn, he would've reformed the Jedi Council in some way.

Qui Gon is the kind of father Anakin needs. It is crucially important for a teenager boy to have his closest one always and unconditionally be on his side. Obi Wan is less emotional and probably wiser than Qui Gon but that's not what a father is for.
