In this video, I address the controversy surrounding hanging as a therapy for shoulder pain. This method, which involves daily hanging for 1-3 minutes, has had mixed reviews.

Some found it to be a game-changer, effectively alleviating their shoulder pain, while others claimed it aggravated their condition. This difference in experience has led to a split in opinions among our audience.

Given this, I decided to make a comprehensive video addressing these concerns and providing guidance on how to use hanging to help alleviate shoulder pain. In the video, I delve into:

1. My personal experience with hanging as a therapy for shoulder pain
2. Feedback from those who experienced worsening pain after hanging
3. A step-by-step guide to hanging that is suited for everyone

The perspective I provide is based on over two decades of experience as a coach, where I faced and overcame my share of injuries, such as slap tears in both shoulders, torn rotator cuff muscles, and severe lower back pain - all without surgical intervention. The key to my recovery was my active collaboration with highly skilled sports physiotherapists and chiropractors. This collaborative approach involved training together, discussing injuries, and conducting live Q&As on YouTube.

Join me in this video as I share these insights and guide you through the process of using hanging as a tool to combat shoulder pain.

Extreme tightness and pain in the shoulder every morning for 6 weeks, physio once a week, was hanging once a day and it wasn't going. Just one day of hanging something like 10 times for around 30 seconds each, not a day has gone by since that I HAVN'T had the morning pain or tightness at all and it's now been over a month that I've been hanging multiple times a day.

In my younger days I played sports like softball and volleyball. With volleyball I was playing in leagues six days a week for awhile. Later in life I began developing a bit of pain when doing things like throwing a ball. To the point where I would have to stretch before being able to do anything overhead with all kinds of clicks, noises and pain in my shoulder. Then a bit ago I found Unity gym on YouTube. I started doing several exercises that they recommended including the hanging from a bar. No more clicks, no more pain in my shoulders. It wasn’t just the hanging, the other exercises Rad suggested got me to the point where I could hang. Now I do the bar hang just about every day and that was the key element. I really appreciate Unity gym and their online content.

I so wanted this to work, I've done 20 chin ups 3 times a week for 30 years. Right shoulder began protesting, I tried several rotator stretches/exercises with little help. Then I found hanging therapy, I did 30 seconds at a time twice a day with no pain while doing it. The third day I was up all night with horrible pain worse than ever before. I stopped hanging and pain subsided. I go for MRI tomorrow. It sounds like a great therapy to try but be careful, like anything it can't work for everyone.

What about if you have a torn labrum? I remember asking my PT if dead hanging would be helpful for me and she said no it could potentially dislocate my shoulder since a torn labrum decreases shoulder stability. What are your thoughts on this?

Brother, if i have an active rotator tear, should i try to hang? Or wait for tear to heal?

Can hanging too much lead to shoulder instability and dislocation? I’ve seen sources saying so
