The only problem is that companies always ask us for a desired salary, BEFORE they discuss or disclose the particularities and details of the position. Especially when it comes to scale and responsibilities. So they shouldn't be surprised if we ask for more money, AFTER we learned all the details and turns out that the company purposefully ""simplified"" or downplayed the job description, at the beginning. That's a dirty game that companies play and we jobseekers shouldn't go along with it!!

What if you went through a staffing company for a company, get offer for example $22 and accepted and later found out they are give everyone else a starting pay of $25.

Time for negotiation is when they present a verbal offer to you, not after you've signed a written offer.

I actually did have a situation where I signed an offer letter and put my two weeks in at my current company. A few days before I started they told me they couldn't pay what they offered and told me that I would have to take a $5k pay cut.

Okay so what happens if I only accepted verbally but haven’t signed the offer letter yet ? Would it still be the same ?
