Never have I negotiated my salary. I have told them what I want to be paid, but never negotiated. Many places offer low-hight salary, but ALWAYS want to pay only the lowest portion of that even with my 35 years of experience.

I just found your channel earlier this week! I had just heard of an career opening near me and have always been interested in knowing and working there. I watched so many of your videos and BOOM! You may want to cover what happens if a formal offer letter does not match what you were promised earlier, either verbally or in written form. I had a massive offer with a company that checked all my boxes, who then sent me an offer letter for a significantly lower wage than I'd been verbally promised when offered the job. I brought it up and in every email to come, the managers kept dodging the question and pretending that offer was never made. Eventually the company rescinded the offer entirely.

Some would say to immediately run without even asking. I'd rather ask them to clarify, like I did, to ensure it wasn't just a mistake, then run if they give even one non-answer.

Sometimes: But I have little luck with it. I am in an industry with very specific requirements so there is a database of who meets those requirements. In this database you put your desired salary so recruiters know a number before they even call you. This helps to start with a starting offer but it can make it difficult to negotiate because they sometimes feel like that number in the database is set in stone. I had to learn to put a higher number so I can stop undervaluing my skills.
