When a parent is sent to prison, the unintended victims of their crimes are their own children -- without stability and support, kids are at higher risk for mental health and development issues. In a heartfelt talk, Alan Crickmore explains how the charity Storybook Dads is keeping families connected through the simple act of storytelling.

The TED Talks channel features the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes (or less). I wish they had something like this in America.. my father was in and out of prison throughout most of my life or working in other states and even now that I'm 26 I still have every letter he wrote me. When you're unable to be close to your loved ones, no matter the reason, every single piece of a connection to them is cherished all the more.. This is such a beautiful thing to be able to share your love for your children and hold on to that in a place where hope is scarce.

The awareness this channel brings wether you agree on a subject or not is great! It’s inspiring to see the different point of views and look outside of the box!

Сама мысль о том, что ребенок страдает из-за ошибок родителей, уже болезненна. Запись сказок в МЛС- это человечный проект, особенно если он дарит радость малышам

Maybe it helps the prisoner as much or more than the kids.

Maybe parents in prison should make better life decisions. They’re not victims.
