The fear of asking for stuff was LITERALLY spot on.

I have some extra ones:
- always worrying abt what others are thinking but mostly how they could be mad
- so scared of waking them up for anything
- difficulty having individuality/being yourself
- sitting by your door/shaking when you hear yelling outside
- feeling like your friends parents care more about them/being jealous of other families
- crying quietly
- constantly lying about your mental health as to not "anger" them
- struggling to hate them/ questioning if they were the issue or you were
- constantly comparing yourself to others your parents might be proud of
- overapoligizing/constantly feeling ashamed and guilty
(I could go on but i wont for now)

Oh! Oh there’s also the “ making up a lie on the spot to avoid getting punished” and the “ over apologizing for everything and anything”

Strict parents don’t raise obedient children, they raise ninjas.

Me: “I don’t have strict parents!”

Also me: *does all of this*

Don't forget:
-feeling more comfortable when you're home alone
-knowing the difference between everyone's footsteps
-tensing up when someone is walking towards your door

Kids with strict parents deserved better and they end up being very good at hiding stuff which is not a good thing when it comes to hiding your emotions

Don't forget tensing up when a door closes too hard, or someone walks too loud.
People relating in the comments, you're seen and loved and you are not alone 💜

Bro this was spot on. I also can tell who is coming to my room by their footsteps, and if they are angry or not.

I always thought my parents weren’t that strict, but after watching this and relating to all of these, AND then telling me I can have TikTok or Snapchat until year 10 made me rethink things…. 😢

I mastered lying and being silent like a mouse too 😊 I often listened to their conversations to make sure I didn't do anything wrong now I want my spy badge

Sometimes I say my parents aren't strict, and then I watch things about strict parents and realize that I relate to what having strict parents feels like.

"Fear of getting yelled at for asking for something" is spot on. When I was a kid I would avoid asking my friends to play because I thought they wouldn't like me for that for some reason so I missed out on a lot. Now looking back on it, it seems stupid that this was why. Thanks a lot Mom and Dad

“give me your phone” is definitely the most traumatic sentence. i grew a big case of betrayal trauma after that one. 💪💪
