Even if it’s your first time trying or you are an advanced butterfly swimmer you will see amazing result by doing the 5 exercises shown on this video.

In our swimming camps we, the coaches have witness 70something and 60something year olds learn to swim butterfly in just one day. It is not perfect butterfly, but by improving their technique and strength it gets better.

In butterfly swimming, technique is actually more important than strength. We can even say that the better your technique the less strength it is required to swim at certain speed. And you will certainly improve your technique with the 5th exercise.

Thanks, a life long breaststroke swimmer, I have just got the hang of front crawl from using the videos, , I love the feeling of the underwater part of dolphin, , it is amazing to suddenly realise that I can move that way... I shall try the idea of not worrying about getting the arms much overhead in recovery, , I'm practicing in the shallow end a few metres at a time ➡️but I'm determined to progress😊 (spacing it out between handstands, underwater breaststroke, aquaerobic moves etc to keep the frustration level in check, , I try to make learning fun, esp with my short attention span)

Never thought butterfly was difficult until I was getting lessons to improve my freestyle and asked them to show me the proper way to do butterfly. It’s painful and exhausting as hell! How anyone can do this for years on end without severe shoulder pain is beyond me.

I am a novice, wouldn’t even dream of butterfly. However, after practicing dolphin for 2 weeks, butterfly might be possible in distant future. I like the blade and shoulder flexibility and strength buildup in your butterfly exercise. In Iyengar yoga, armpit flexibility is one I practice, too.

I'm discouraged by the fitness center I go to for my swim lessons. I'm learning from such videos but still need correction and coaching when actually in water. Almost drowned when my floater 'floated' away from me and I found myself gasping for air but swallowed water instead. Managed to bring my knees up to my chest and came back up to hold on to a side rail.

What a great video. I'm on the butterfly beginner slopes, with lots of work on. This will help a lot, I cannot wait for the next swim class to try these ideas out.
