yeah I've wanted to do a Meet the Robinsons short for a while; just never found the right angle ;)

background credit: upklyak on Freepik. I think I already used this one, but it was the most future-city looking one I could find, so I thought it fit

song credit: Splash Beach from Kirby's Epic Yarn... yeah okay thematically this one doesn't fit at all, but who cares ;)

"Bernard from Megamind fighting a time traveling Waluigi with an evil bowler hat"

This perfectly describes the movie

i haven’t watched this in so long. i didn’t even think about the time travel technicalities of the plot.
i really like this movie tho, one of those underrated faves i think

There’s actually an actual theorised time paradox that works exactly like this called the bootstrap paradox making the object sent back in time technically created both by its inventors and time itself

Guys I have a theory.

Wilbur didn't die, he went to an alternative timeline and forgot everything. There are infinite timelines

But hey, that's just a theory-

It’s possible that it was a time loop made by a paradox, so the only way to break that paradox is with another that would ensure what caused the first one would never happen, basically meaning once another choice was made that ended up changing the timeline, it counter acted the first one because the first one relied on nothing else being changed involving the Hat before it took over, it makes sense if you think of it like an error correcting itself with another made to work against it.

Time travel can sometimes be pulled if right.

This movie is just one of the best, I know the plot might not make sense, but it's still amazing, and "Little Wonders" at the end can't be beat

I love time travel in media but it has to be done right. The best kind of time travel is the self consistent ones where there isn’t any uncharted territory- you can do virtually anything with it without any paradoxes. Sadly, this doesn’t happen most of the time, which makes me sad.

My conclusion is time travel is always a paradox that creates more paradoxes

Best Disney villain: Waluigi with a bowler hat. Peak character design too.

The hat went back in time and made other hats before it was made meaning that it very well could have dusted away but produced enough hats to get the future it always wanted.

If the kid didn’t decide to not invent it then he would have found some other way of defeating it and then invents it in the future anyway. That’s my best guess.

This movie was my childhood.
But...
Lol.

I think the flash unironically gives a good example of what might've occurred here with timeline remnants

This is TOTK levels of space time continuum destruction

I don't usually think of stuff like that when watching something at first, lately, I've been thinking into stuff more, but before I just kinda thought "silly fun times and a weirdo villain, I love it!" Keep in mind, that was when I was like, 8

Maybe the reason that time travel is hard to explain is because time travel isn’t an explained concept and they didn’t want to discover it for kids movie😭

Honestly, I watched this movie so long ago and truly loved it. I am very happy someone did discuss this because this has always bothered me. I’m gonna watch it again, thanks!
