Videogames used to be such a part of my childhood, I'm glad i had the time to enjoy them and now i have a different purpose.

Honestly even when I was younger I would get so much hype before playing a game, and when I played it, it never lived up to my expectations. Now, I don’t even have expectations any more, I know that playing video games is boring, and it always is. Time to level up in real life boys, and it’s way more fun than levelling up in video games, because it’s real. 💪

Sims 4 was what specifically made me get disillusioned with gaming. Something about the realization that I spend more time a day having my sim practice it’s violin than I practiced my cello in real life really got to me. From there I quickly started seeing the other games I played in the same way, which really was what pulled me out of gaming and into self-improvement

This is literally me, I was a gamer for legit 6 years like multiple hours everyday, however as the years went by, it felt more like an addiction than enjoyment. September 2021 i stopped playing video games and focus on walking 2 hours everyday instead, ontop of studying

I know it sounds corny, but it really is possible to make our reality a video game. If we challenge ourselves with real, tangible goals that seem hard to reach, it gives the same drive as video games. As we progress through our goals and see ourselves transform into a bigger and better person, that's the same thing as leveling up your character. The only difference is, the progress that you're making in real life actually matters. It helps you out in every facet of your life (sleep, relationships, studies, business) if you prioritize your own goals over the goals of a random character in a game. 🙏

With all the dopamine-heavy overstimulating activities such as video games, we gain a tolerance and it becomes not as enjoyable as it was before. But doing regular natural things like going out into nature and picking out our favorite leaf will never get old and always bring joy.

Part of the decrease in quality of video games is how the market is, and part of it is maturing.

Video games become fun again after you have done some work in real life, when you progress in the gym, when you start eating healthier and socialising more

But at this point we can limit ourselves how much we play

Like a reward after a quest. If you keep indulging in rewards without even doing the quest then you can’t appreciate the rewards

That's why I stick to arcade and simple story games. They're actually enjoyable and don't require the "grind" mentality that keeps you hooked for hours at a time.

I relate to this message on a spiritual level. This is so true for me currently, games just don't hype me up and give me that pump anymore. When I was in high school all I thought after coming home was to grind in games. I would play for like 12 hrs a day. But of course, I wasn't pro. Then games started to mean less and less in college. Now I'm in my 4th year, playing for 2 to 3 hrs max, and the thing I'm grinding is my real life skills (drawing, etc). Games really mean less for me now.

It pretty funny that in almost all videogames we play as a Adonis, someone masculine, someone successful. It shows how almost every male does actually wants to be someone who is masculine and successful.🔱

I believe there is a balance between having fun, and being productive when you need to be productive . You shouldn't be dependent on video games entirely, but they aren't as bad as Hamza makes them seem to be, if you're a grown adult, it's your life and you should be smart enough to realise where and how to spend your time

I’ve lost the taste in games and it doesn’t feels fun anymore ❤I’m a teen and it’s still not fun for me anymore like it used to be

Knowing coding and how actually stupidly hard making videogames is makes me appreciate them, not actually consuming terrible "cookie cutter" shit that comes out just for the sake of making money, but actually spending a bit of time after a long week of working on myself to just.... appreciate what im playing as art, immerse myself on an alternate reality that i would never experience in real life, thats what makes them worth it for me, its one thing to spend hours on some terrible game you just play for the sake of playing, its a completelly different thing to spend some time playing something you actually enjoy, almost like a gift for yourself, yes, i didnt do anything productive, but i had a good time and thats it.

When I was a kid, I liked to play with brandless action figures because I could pick them and turn them into a character of my own, with a story I created at my own. Then, I first discovered the videogames and fell in love, because they used far more sofistificated storylines than the 5-6 years old me could make.

At the age of 12-14, I started to lose interest on videogames because I felt they were becoming all the same: same characters, same gameplays, same stories... then I developed a new hobby, the hobby of writing.

I still play videogames, but now my main hobby is to make up my own stories, with my own Journeys, heroes and villains.

A couple months / a year before I quit video games and got on self-improvement me and my friend were just talking about video games online. I mentioned: "Bro, it just feels like video games don't bring fun anymore, man. It isn't the same" and he agreed with me exactly. I think sometime from 2020-2021 video games just... lost their interest.
I'm glad I quit gaming, I used to spend hours not even having fun on the game, I remember weekends where I was PROUD to spend 14 hours on Apex Legends... but none of it was actually fun. I'm sad to see my peers on gaming, playing FIFA until 1 AM and that's part of the reason I'm on self-improvement: I want to prove to my friends that gaming is detrimental so they can quit and level up themselves and those around them, and from then on it's a ripple effect.
You can make a difference. You can show/ tell those around you the greatness of self-improvement... but they won't care or do anything about their life unless they see results in your life.
If you want to help other people, first you've got to help yourself.

Off topic, but I just saw your “why you should start your self improvement YouTube channel” and here I am. I literally just made my channel and I’m going to upload my first video this week. Thanks, my guy.

I would always ask myself, "why do I like playing videogames." It was because the character was someone I was not, someone I wanted to be, who did what I wanted to do.

It's hard for me to relate to these videos because i'm 13 years old and haven't hit puberty, but i still find things in these videos that motivate me to do something productive.. Huge thanks man ❤️❤️
