Competitive multiplayer is what is ruining games

I think it is more of a mind set. Before you wanted to escape things that did not interest you. Be homework, going to school and stuff like that. As you become older and become more independent you realize that you don't want to escape the world as much as before. Because to advance in life you need to be active IN life.

I love videogames and I have seen myself going thru the same phases of not playing and then playing again. I only play whenever I have nothing else to do. In which sense I never run out of things to do. :)

Games now are just so much work.I mostly play RPG/MMOs.kill 20 of those, collect 20 of that.Daily's and grinding, it's all work.Where is the fun and the feeling of epicness.

its because video gaming isnt about fun anymore, its about money. 90% of games coming out are garbage. old games had about 70-80% good games.
want to know where the good games are hiding?
buy a nintendo 3ds!

Same here.. Most video games are chopped up into little pieces and are called dlc... Gaming is dying a slow painful death.

I totally understand how you feel. I stopped at PS3 because I lack the motivation to continue. I can play a game or two per month but that's it. I ended my career! I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that way. And people that bought PS4s are paying $50 a year to play online, DLCs and season passes. They ruined the industry that I once loved.

@emmfan09 I'm with you on that. I could watch parks over and over again and never get tired of it.

@Xethagona yeah, that's true. You couldn't get mew or celebii without cheating. I did complete gold with all 251 pokemon.

30 is the endzone when it comes to games.

Gotta stop smoking, buy a house, engage the woman and eat better - cause I cant breathe, cant process shit food and dont want to live in a fucking apartment anymore.

Anyone still have friends? Friends drop off in the mid 20s, get lost in work and different paths. Growing up is horrible.

I've been feeling the same way like I try to force myself to play a game and I'll end up playing for maybe 30-1hour and then just lose interest I wish I could get that love for gaming back that I once had but I just can't.

Games fucking suck these days. I still to this day haven't bought a current gen console because other than an updated GTA V there's nothing that piques my interest on the consoles... I like basic, simple games that are competitive, take time to develop skill and/or have immense replayability. GTA, fighting games, sports games, racing games, poker FPS.

When I was younger, I liked adventure games like Zelda, Crash Bandicoot, TombRaider, Donkey Kong, Mario, etc.

But there are too many grey, super-serious, dark, mature-theme, boring, eye-glazing games that are coming out these days. The graphics aren't even that impressive.

Games like GTA, Half-Life, and Portal are really fun to play and spend a weekend or two spending ALL day playing and getting super immersed in the stories and environments (I've never been more immersed in a game than I was in Half-Life and Portal). I feel like the developers have gotten incredibly lazy - either that or they're too connected to the community because of the internet and social media - so there's too much pressure to cave and be unoriginal.

This happened to me several years ago, too! I don't even buy them anymore because I never finish them. I even tried playing Portal at the beginning of the summer, but then I couldn't get past a certain part very close to the end, so I just gave up. When I was younger, it was fun to not get past certain parts, but I'd rather just rewatch Parks and Rec episodes instead.
