1970 Mercedes 220D 897, 000 miles ran great until it was totaled. Yes that without a rebuild only problems two alternators two sets of shocks engine mounts radiator mounts. See if you can get that kind of mileage with any car built today.

I know of an Audi A 3 TDi that is 15 years old, serviced every year and has done 170, 000 miles and all it has needed is a new water pump at 160, 000 miles. Yet the ultimate high mileage car I knew of was a turbodiesel Ford Mondeo that managed 250, 000 miles before it became too uneconomical to fix( very good for a 15 year old car with such a high mileage).

They're are no reliable German cars. I went volvo. Tired of the insane amount of issues with German cars

The a6 supercharged 3.0 isn't bulletproof, it has commonly failing engine mounts (electronic, and a pain to replace), catalytic converters that split at the flange, thermostat/wp that fail, faulty oil pressure switches, stuck open injectors, low quality gaskets and ignition coils.... I could go on and on. They're nice cars don't get me wrong but FAR from bulletproof. Split cats, and engine mounts are a COMMON issue even on cars with 50k miles.
