Carne Guisada (Beef Stew) - Easy Puerto Rican Recipe

Carne guisada is such a traditional Puerto Rican dish. Super tender flavorful meat with the perfect sauce to drip on top of your rice. My mom talks about walking into my great grandpa's "fonda" when she was little and this was always on the menu. The dish is super easy to make - it does require a bit of planning but minimal effort. This is a great dish for your next family meal!

Ingredients:
1 tbs oil
2lbs beef for stew
2 tbs adobo
3 tbs sofrito
⅓ cup tomato sauce
2 tbs olives
2 bay leaves
1 large potato (peel and diced in large pieces)
3 carrots (chopped)
4 cups of water

I made this for dinner. It was delicious. I remember a Friend of mine was from Puerto Rico. Her Family made some great food. I miss it so much. I was about 7 years old. They were so nice to me. Loved their music and dancing too. Thank you for aharing this recipe. ❤

This is so close to my Mami's food. She is no longer with us and miss her so much. You guys have saved me. I should have paid attention 😫. The last time I made this, my son told me he almost choked on a piece of the beef🤣Obviously, I needed to cook it more. But this recipe is going to change that! I cant wait to make it. I adore "Carne "Guisada!" 🤗

This is what I was looking for, an easy recipe, my mother used to make this for us, mostly on sundays, Lord I miss her, anyway, will try this, but would like to only use a lb of meet instead of 2, since i'm trying this out for the 1st time this way, would you suggest using 2 cups of water? I can wing the rest of the ingredients. TY for your time.

Looks real sabroso! Two questions. First, are you using an induction cooker? Second, where can I buy a pot like the one you used to prepare and cook this meal?

O-jo this looks so perfect I was thinking how about doing it in the Crock-Pot is that an idea that would go good for this dish, let me know ..

Do you have to add the bay leaves? Is that flavor that it adds important to the taste?

If don’t have the time for two hours just after you add all the ingredients transfer the meat to a Crock Pot and put it on high for two or three hours and will be very good too. Cook your Rice and Beens and you have a delicious meal my family like yellow plantains or Tostones.❤😅
