Kind of miraculous, I prayed this morning for the insight and knowledge to approach members of my team with compassion, respect, understanding, and honesty to confront the shared problems we have together.

Lo and behold, I stumbled upon this video.

Thank you!!

I'm willing to bet that 90% of the people attending these meetings don't need to be there.

My company has increased productivity since transitioning to remote. Many of these rules are arbitrary and serve no purpose other than presenting an image to a boomer of what a company should be.

If you're meeting your deadlines and getting your work done, who cares what time you show up for a pointless meeting

Everyone in Silicon Valley disagrees with you can’t be excellent and late. In fact the devs who skip meetings typically get ahead with the time they save to actually work.

Great video, interesting exception: what if you show up 'late' if you believe in a polychronic & flexible timeperspective if the nature if the work allows flexibility and your performance is really high but the manager/leader wants a strict culture?

This is so polite it's painful. Here's what I say.

"Before we start I want to very quickly address a concern. (Insert name here), you're late to this meeting and it's happened a couple of times before. We all need to be making meetings on time for things things run smoothly so I need you to make sure you're not late again. Thanks."

Counter question, if your company is constantly getting out of meetings late (minimum 5 minutes for every single meeting, some of which extend as many as 4 hours long), keeping you late at the end of the day for arbitrary conversations that could easily have been had during the day, and they can't seem to figure out how to set realistic expectations, how can I encourage my employer to respect me?

What if you are always late but you still work the 8 to 10 hr shift. So how would that be disrespectful?

You forgot to give a shoutout to Suzanne Simms in the title or description! People want content from her.

I have a hard time consuming shit sandwich style reprimands, I have this odd response where I only eat the bread.
