The last step is the most important part of the lesson!!!😂😂

I practice with my thumb completely off the neck so my fingers are forced to move independently without any anchoring and the power to move them is transferred from my wrist/thumb to my bicep. Has helped me so far.

I think each guitarist need to find his own technique and right hand placement to play fast. It is very important

Guitarist/Musicians,
This lesson is excellent for PICKING!However do not fall into the trap of SHREDDING! Learn whole songs and if you intend to perform you can not play a gig if you don’t have a repertoire. Becoming a Singer is invaluable because if you can sing and play guitar YOU ARE THE BAND!
Good luck and enjoy this fantastic post !

But if I shouldn't touch the strings with my right hand, how should I mute open strings to avoid noise?

When I was 15 I tried teaching myself to play and and rhythm playing was fun but not what I really wanted to play I would dream of playing lead guitar I see what is being done and I can basically repeat what I see but it never sounded alive but artificial, and I gave up, today I am 57 and began again 2 years ago but today I am teaching myself to play lead what I always wanted to do, I'm still learning vibrato and bending and hammer ons pull offs and this is another useful tool because I do make those mistakes you just mentioned thanks bro

All good ideas. I didn't really focus on my right hand technique at all when I was learning. As long as it came out right, that was fine. Well, once I tried harder lines, songs, whatever, those weaknesses would show up in an errant note, string noise, etc. Still working on it.

I should practice alternate picking. I can downpick like crazy, which seems to be slightly unusual, but alternate picking usually results in my pick kinda "snagging" for no reason
