Theres only one reason why this negotiation tanked the way it did. Ser Davos of Hosue Seaworth was not included in these negatioations.

"The Boltons helped us do it"- the show writers hated Stannis so much that they even gave his acomplishments to the Boltons.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Starks more than any other House, but this guy has got a good point.

I felt sorry for Jon during this. The eldest living son of the greatest house in the North going door to door begging for alliances.

Many people forget; when robb first heard of the ironborn invasion and the capture of winterfell his first instinct was to head back north at once, but Roose Bolton insisted he had to continue his fight with the lannisters and sneakily had ramsey handle the situation

One my very favorite GOT scenes. Tim McInnerny (Glover) nailed it. The nuance in his inflection is brilliant: there is no malice here, only desolation. He mourns the state of his House, the state of the North, and the state of House Stark. In his voice is the coldness of an honorable Lord who mourns the loss of honor.

This scene is pretty important imo. It highlights the fact that while most people have been brushing off Rob's breaking of his oath to Frey as teenage pettiness and still see him as being an overall good guy whose sole sin was to refuse a marriage arranged for political reasons for the sake of "true love", fact is that he was comletely selfish and stupid. His selfishness cost him his life along with that of thousands of others who followed him faithfully. I think this scene really gives the real measure of that: Rob was entrusted by the entire North and betrayed that trust, bringing profound dishonor on house Stark.

House Stark banner: a dire wolf
House Lannister banner: a golden lion
House Baratheon banner: a great stag
House Martell banner: a spear piercing the center of a sun

House Glover: a glove.

As great as Robb was, he was naive and underestimated the consequences of his actions. He was under the impression that things were going to fall in place regardless if he broke some oaths.

Funny, I thought that I took this castle back for the Glovers...

Show: "We have only just taken this castle back from the Ironborn. The Boltons helped us do it."

Books: *Stannis Baratheon liberates Deepwood Motte from the Ironborn and gains the allegiance of the Glovers and Mormonts*

I find the incoming battle in the books more exciting, but the show battle wasn't bad.

It hurt to see Jon and Sansa go thru that.

"House Glover will stand behind House Stark as we have for a thousand years!" yeah right

This scene also explains why Jon, not Sansa, was the one they rallied behind. Sansa is still too entitled for her own good. She really did expect that North to just fall behind her. Jon came across as more pragmatic. He knew Robb's mistakes had muddied the Stark name.
