Jon asks the Wildlings to fight House Bolton

Jon and Tormund talk with the Wildling leader. Jon wants the wildlings to fight with them against the Boltons to free the North.
After Tormund intervenes with the deeds Jon Snow did for the Wildlings, the Wildlings give their words to fight for Jon against the Boltons.

Such a great scene, my absolute favorite from Season 6. Jon hated to ask these people to fight for him but knows it has to be done. Wun Wun and Tormund made it clear that Jon was worth fighting for. There was no forcing, no "you will fight for me because I said so" like all the Lords and Kings before Jon. It was essentially the choice of the people. Voting if you will.

I think the wildlings are my favourite people in Game of Thrones. They're the fairest. They vote their leaders based solely on merit, they always keep their word, they respect women enough to let them lead and fight, they don't discriminate based on race (accepting giants and crows into their ranks) and they recycle. Look at those DIY huts man!

I wonder how heavy the Wilding casualties were, though. They arrived later than the pro-Stark cavalry, since they were on foot, and they were immediately surrounded with the shield wall, so they avoided the hail of arrows from earlier.

They probably lost a few hundred, but I wouldn't say they were decimated. And those who survived, along with the rest of the wildings, are now in a better position since they proved to be better than their reputation claimed, and they're now under the protection of the King.

It's a shame that we will never get to know what Wun Wun was like an individual. Like, what did he believe in, what was his story, what was his history.

Jon acknowledges their concerns. Confirming to them the way they feel is valid and right. But after your done feeling right there's still more ish to handle or were all screwed fersure. That's what makes Jon the best leader. Knows how to speak to his people. Makes sense
