In there with leaving lights on is an electrical short (my car had this, in the rearview mirror compass) or a faulty ground cable from the battery (my car may have this...).

It would be good if someone invented an automatic distilled water topper upperer for car batteries.

Like a small reservoir that clips on to the battery, and basically feeds the battery distilled water as required, when the electrolyte levels drop.

How far is a short trip, , is 5 miles each way enough? How cold is too cold? Now getting in 20s at night. 3 yr old battery went downhill in past month, charged it twice, wasn't dead just charging on the gauge quite a bit. Got after market Alarm 2 mo ago. Battery ok 1st month with new alarm, now it's getting low in 3-4 days. Do I need a battery?

IME car batteries used to last twice as long as they do now. Just had one fail at 4 years, 3 months. Same GM car's OEM battery was still going strong at 8+ years.

I have a 2000 Ford 150. I bought a new battery and it drained. I exchanged it for another since the said a cell went bad. This new one drain cause I had not started it for 3 days. I have an alarm system with a light flash that stays on. Do you think that what's draining the battery? Should I just disconnect the system. I dont use the alarm system but I kept the blue light flicker to deter thieves. Can an alarm system drain a battery completely? What can I do what do you recommend?

Charging battery and while taking it out noticed a couple of things loose. I'll give it a lil time then try again. Not starting. I bought one with Lil less CCA than the other one. CCA 540 instead of 585 . Might that be a problem ? Its been sounding rough when starting. Damage anything ?

How would you know, that your battery is brand new or an old stock setting on a warehouse before you buy it.

Does car battery die slowly if you don't drive your car enough. That's what my mechanic told me today. Every year they are putting a new battery in. Strangly, it dies right after my second 6 monthly oil change. It happened last year around the same time and again today. It's barely one year old battery. And why it started dying right after I bring my car home after my oil change? And it happened twice!
Just when I build up my trust around mechanics things happen. Smells shady?
They changed it for free since it's under warranty but still shady way to make money!

Not correct. My battery is draining and alternator is not having any problem per mechanic. Going to Acura factory mechanic

I just want to say...thank you ...for proving The Law of Attraction right for me yet again LOL. This video was next up on my sub feed before I left for work. Lo and behold...my battery light comes on >_<. Changed the battery in the autozone parking lot and got to work. But on the drive home battery light comes back on with the new battery. Probably my alternator is acting up. The Law of Attraction is VERY real haha.
