2:56 Wheat vs. rice

In this video, I want to answer a question from someone who wanted to know which is healthier: rice or wheat. Neither rice nor wheat is keto-friendly. But, I wanted to cover what would be healthier, just so you have the data.

White Rice
• no hull, no bran, no germ (pure carbohydrate)
• Glycemic index: 77
• It's enriched with synthetic vitamins – B1, B2, B3, folic acid, iron

One of the problems with consuming white rice is you're at risk of potentially developing a condition called Beri Beri (vitamin B1 deficiency). This is a neurological disease that can create all sorts of problems with the nerves, pulse rate, memory, and blood sugars.

Brown Rice
• Has no hull
• Has bran and germ (less refined)
• Glycemic index: 68

Wild Rice
• It has the hull, the bran, and the germ
• It has a lot more nutrition
• Glycemic index: 52

Wheat
• White flour glycemic index: 77—no nutrition, enriched with synthetic vitamins
• Whole wheat glycemic index: 72— has the bran, fiber, germ, carbohydrate

Wheat has more calcium, more B3, and zinc. Wheat has gluten, which many people are allergic or intolerant to. It also has phytic acid, lectins, and glyphosate.

Rice has less calcium but more folic acid. There's no gluten in rice. Brown rice and wild rice both have phytic acid. Rice also has lectins, and can even have arsenic.

Wild rice may be the healthiest option. But, if you're on the keto plan, which I recommend, then you shouldn't be consuming any rice.

Thanks for watching! When it comes to rice or wheat, wild rice may be a healthier option.

Picking between rice and wheat is an option for those who can afford food... For people who cannot afford it.... Either of them is a blessing.

In my humble opinion, I think unless you have an underlying health condition, just eat anything but always in moderation. Save yourself the stress and be content.

Some of the oldest people the world from Japan eat white rice. It compliments the other healthy items on the plate such as seafood and vegetables. Don't stress people. Stress is far worse than having white rice! Live healthy but live your lives happily, that will keep also you young. "Don't count the days, make the days count" - Muhammad Ali

I appreciate his time taken to explain so well. It's good to know which is healthier and not to educate us how we can control what we eat, that's brilliant. I've learned how to eat everything balanced after watching him. Thank you Dr Eric ☺️

I am from India and my grandfather lived till 103 yrs and was fit till the end. He died in his sleep without any reason. Maybe his time on Earth was up. He had his original teeth, he never wore any glasses. He was a vegetarian and ate all kinds of food. He used to walk in the fields in the morning and evenings to keep fit and pass his time. He had a fantastic memory. He never went to a hospital. So people just keep fit and eat whatever you like. This body is designed by the creator to look after itself.

Thanks Dr. Berg for your videos. Note: My great grandmother ate rice everyday .. She lived for 110 years! Rice has Fiber, Potassium, Vitamin B6, Magnesium, Selenium -- No wonder it is staple diet for more than 1/2 of the world's population - Rice and rice products are consumed more than 1/2 of the world's population! One-fifth of the world's population, more than one billion people, depend on rice cultivation for their livelihood. The top producers are: China, India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Japan, and the Caribbean Countries.

Eat everything in moderation, enjoy your exercise, enjoy your life, stress free, happiness leads to good health, stay away from toxic people and situations, sleep, rest, and we will all live to 90 plus years like our grandparents, not too much social media and stuck on competing with others, the opinions of people who don't care about u
or comparing yourself to others and creating misery for yourself....

Our grandparents lived a healthier lifestyle, were more active and hard working folk, were content with themselves, emotionally happier people than I think this generation are... just my thoughts 💭

No matter how carb free, keto, wheat free, low fat, fat free, ect.... if u not emotionally happy and balanced your stressful life and personal unhappiness will create all kinds of diseases like cancer, diabetes, high bp ect....

I lived a toxic rat race lifestyle which brought me higher education and more money but it also brought disease and sickness.... once I stopped and had a good look at myself and my bad situation... I started changing ALOT of things.... I still eat rice in moderation 3 or 4 times a week, some bread, once or twice a month but im thinner than I used to be when I lived a toxic rat race life I'm less stressed and more happier.... 🤗
