In this video, Dr. Berg talks about the difference between white rice and brown rice. White rice is a refined product, they take the bran, germ, and husk away and strip it down to pure carbohydrates.

Brown rice has more nutrition and is lower glycemic index than the white rice but both of them have a high glycemic index and not good for losing weight. The brown rice also has phytates which are very powerful antioxidants that preserve the rice. He also talks about phytates in the form of IP6 and arsenic in brown rice.

IP6 is one of the most powerful antioxidants and take it with an empty stomach a few times a week because if you take it with food it could chelate or take out some of the minerals.

Symptoms of Arsenic Poisoning:
• Headaches
• Drowsiness
• Confusion
• Metal Taste in Mouth
• Problem Swallowing
• Cramps in Muscle
• Hair Loss

I’ve eaten white rice every day my whole life and so did my grandparents, they lived to be 100+ years old and I’m perfectly healthy as well.

Eating brown rice almost every day because it's nutrient-rich and keeps my bowels regular. Didn't know about arsenic. Learned a new thing. Thanks.

Please note: 1.) you can remove up to 50% of arsenic from brown rice. Boil water then add rice. Let boil 5 more minutes -- then drain and discard the water. Much of the arsenic will be in this water. ( I also rinse once. ) Then add final fresh water ( to be absorbed by rice ) and finish cooking.
2.) Also! -> if you add some Cilantro this will naturally chelate heavy metals ( like arsenic ) from your body. Chlorella and cilantro work well together: Cilantro removes heavy metals from tissues and chlorella helps prevent them from being reabsorbed into the body.

I don't know what to say about, we all eat rice from the beginning of our life. And It's full plate rice with vegetable curry and fish curry. We all feel good.

2 cups of black beans (stewed with chopped onion, garlic, tomatoes, peppers...) & 1/2 cup of white rice over shredded cabbage & 1/2 an avocado with a fried egg on top with olive oil. Cooked with fresh chicken broth and coconut oil. This meal has been keeping people around the world alive and healthy for a very long time... Far worse choices out there.

the argument of arsenic in brown rice doesnt seem to convincing. If we pay attention, everything is already contaminated with heavy metals, and fish for example is no exception. I think this analysis was too simplistic.

I’m not on keto. I use carbs regularly in my plan. I just needed to know the benefits. Sayin you can’t loose weight with rice is misleading

So if you avoid both, what can you eat? I will continue to eat a moderate amount of brown rice once a day.

White rice has worked for hundreds of years. Not changing to brown now. I load rice with fruit or vegetables I like the green the best. And small amounts of protein. Beans and white rice a delicious together. Mexican people have lived a long time on it.

as brown rice screws my gut, i started consuming white rice again and seeing very good results for fat loss.

I think we should address here the fact that in Asia (specially in Japan), the rice is washed over and over again in order to get rid off the starch, thus turning the GI into something way lower than the value of the raw one suggest. Otherwise they would have been fatter long time ago.

Rice is the one carb I allow myself as its my favourite. I think the risk of Arsenic exposure is negligible tbh. I know this is a keto promotional video series but Rice is life in most of the world 🌎

If you're planning to lose weight with brown rice you're aim is for it to soak as much water as possible. I don't want to loose weight but this is simply how I like my brown rice. I put 1 cup of rice with 4 cups of water and cook it covered with a lid at very low heat. I let it simmer ( it hardly boils ) and then when it's a cm or two from the surface of the water I take it off the heat and let it soak in the water. It will eventually soak 95% of the water and the water that is not absorbed will thicken when cooled down.

So basically you eat A lot but it's 80% water and it's pretty filling. You could combine it with some well seasoned meat or prepare it as you'd like. The magic of rice is that you can give it the taste of you're favorite dish without putting too many unhealthy ingredients in it.
It's very filling and doesn't constipate you unlike how the rice made by my pinoy gf which is cooked but dehydrated.

I mean you're obviously Pro Keto but you should try to look at it more objectively and be less biased because like not everybody is going to follow a keto diet for all their lives

This is why I mix both together all my life. Absolutely delicious and I have no issues with my health so far.
