Electric car repairs ARE EXPENSIVE!

Electric cars have gained popularity in recent years due to their eco-friendliness and fuel efficiency. However, one of the downsides of owning an electric car is the high cost of repairs.

Compared to conventional gas-powered cars, electric cars have more complex systems that require specialized knowledge and equipment to repair. In addition, electric cars use expensive high-tech components such as batteries, electric motors, and power electronics that require specialized training and certification to repair.

For example, the cost to replace an electric car battery can range from $5,500 to $16,000 depending on the make and model of the vehicle. In contrast, the cost to replace a traditional gas-powered car's battery is usually less than $200. The high cost of electric car batteries is one of the main reasons why electric car repairs can be so expensive.

Another example is the cost of repairing an electric car's electric motor. The electric motor is one of the most critical components of an electric car and is responsible for converting electrical energy into mechanical energy to power the car. The cost to repair or replace an electric motor can range from $2,000 to $7,000, depending on the make and model of the vehicle.

In addition to these high costs, electric car repairs can also take longer to complete than traditional gas-powered car repairs. This is because electric cars require specialized diagnostic tools and equipment, and many repair shops may not have the necessary training or experience to work on electric cars.

Overall, owning an electric car can be more expensive in terms of repairs and maintenance than a traditional gas-powered car. However, as electric cars become more common, the cost of repairs may decrease as repair shops become more experienced in working with electric cars and the cost of components such as batteries and electric motors decreases due to economies of scale.

I will pass, I am stupid, but I am not that stupid. 80's and 90's cars are fine with me.

Remember, kids! If you buy a new car after a facelift or refresh, NEVER go for the first year! But wait a few more!

You mean exactly how internal combustion cars are stupidly expensive to repair as well? Transmission goes out, they want like 5k. Engine 6k. Ecu 4k. I'm not stupid. I've seen those car shield programs with ice t

Electric vehicle batteries are being repaired by car enthusiasts all the time

It not cost effective for dealerships and repair shops to repair EV batteries but enthusiasts are doing it

The battery goes bad when a few of the thousands of cells in the pack dies so a determined person will check a number of cells every day until he has evaluated them all, life doesn't have to stop

There are YouTube videos about making EV batteries and repairing them

It may cost a lot to fix some of those high voltage components, but on the other hand they are significantly more reliable than components in ICE vehicles such as gearboxes, engines and many other mechanical systems. So while it could cost a lot to replace the battery, but it may never need to be replaced even after driving 1 million km, while for the ICE vehicle you would probably pay several times more by replacing various components for the same mileage by replacing various cheaper components, but many times again and again.
Moreover, a new modern engine from Mercedes-Benz could cost just as much as the new battery. Here is a good video to watch about it:

With an old Toyota or a Honda then I wouldn't have to deal with repairs as long I change the oil regularly

Look what just happened to all of the EVs in the Midwest and Northeast during the freezing weather. Dead! Getting towed. Massive lines to recharge then the car dying in line while waiting because the batteries wont charge as fast. What a nightmare!!! What a scam!!!

Lets rephrase what he really meant to say is there wont be allowing any replacement parts outside the dealership, therefore it will be hard to fix, which means no one will be interesting in buying these type of cars in the first place, good luck with your 💩💩💩

Just think. You buy an expensive luxury car and it has a life of only 10 years. Then you have to pay, more than its depreciated value on a whole new component. Would you buy a nice Mercede knowing that in 10 years you have to replace [not repair] the whole drive train, engine, trans & diff', because it ceased to function - by design? Think about it. Oh, and that component isn't recyclable either, unlike an engine, tec.

There’s a piece of rubber that identifies as a balloon that is upset it was disposed of empty.

This statement is for those that came up with the idea of essentially putting mechanics and parts store out of business.

The future will probably be modular, they won’t fix it they’ll replace and refurbish
