Starting Strength (linear progression) IMO best to get novice lifters strong. Have 2 kids playing D1 baseball and I used this with them with slight varients. SSB squat vs. low bar back and dumbell press vs. barbell. Good stuff.

I think it's true if you are relatively proportionate left to right and contralaterally. I'm an ex amateur fighter and I'm all twisted to one side. I need tones of unilateral kettlebell/clubbell work to not exacerbate my issues with bilateral movements and stay injury free.

Of course not arguing about barbells being the best tool to build general strength.

Very interesting. There is one school of thought, particularly Conjugate, where they do ultra low volume with the Big 3. They do very high volume with the accessories. But then there is the school of thought that says forget about the isolation machines and just get stronger in the Big 3.
I’ve tried both. I’m not sure what is better. I honestly hate bodybuilding, pump work, and isolation work. The only reason I do it is because when I didn’t do it I had an imbalanced physique. I’d rather just concentrate on the Big 3 to be honest. But vanity gets in the way so I continue to prioritize the isolations.

Not necessarily. Dumbbell exercises can be excellent alternatives to barbell and may in some cases result in better gains.
