Welcome to another Quick Stitch tutorial!

The fifth stitch in our hand sewing series is the hem stitch. This stitch is used for finishing raw edges on hems and necklines, and sometimes it's used to hem a lining into a garment. Left handed? We have you covered!

Be sure to check out the other "revamped" tutorials in our series:

Thank you for doing the left handed demo! Sometime trying to figure out stitches backwards is difficult!

My next hem will look much better! 🤩
Can we get a tutorial on pulling threads? And especially what to do when the thread breaks? Please?
PS- the new hair is magnificent! 💙💙💙

I've watched many videos on felling stitch and hem stitch, but I still don't understand how they differ. They both require the needle to travel forward, taking a small bite out of the base/underneath layer and push the needle through the fold.

Oh No! I've been hemming my pants wrong for years!!
Would we be able to get a tutorial on how to use a thimble? I can never figure out how to hold a needle and use a thimble at the same time!

Ah, wouldn't using a matching thread be best to blend in...or is that too obvious to mention?
