You are a gifted teacher. Well done. Thank you for not having annoying background music. Thank you for getting right to the instruction, for your clear explanations, and for beginning at the beginning.

I am a tailor (Savile Row's school). Happy to see someone that is still using the thimble. Best wishes.

I want to thank you so very much. You are the ONLY one on the whole internet teaching this the way we might have learned from our grandmother. Your instructions are thorough and historically accurate (I'm confident you are). No one explains the way you do. I have been buying books, even vintage early 1900s books written for school teachers. But your videos cannot be beat. What a great gift this is. Thank you for your careful teaching and demonstration. I will watch every video over and over, while practicing. Please do more !

My grandma recently passed away and collected thimbles, which the grandchildren are getting. Thank you for demonstrating how to use it so I can remember her each time I put it on. ❤️

Thank you so much for this. I want to be able to be mobile when I'm sewing. I also figure humans went without a sewing machine for so long, why do I 'need' one. So happy to have found your channel!

Been doing leather work for some years but when the little one asked if i could sew her Halloween costume that she accidentally ripped i had to turn to youtube. Watched a couple videos but this one was amazing and i felt like heart and soul went into it. Im no expert after watching it, but i feel great that my daughter has a mended costume 🙂

I’ve moved to Singapore and couldn’t take my sewing machine, serger and all the paraphernalia I have at home, with me. I miss making clothes and thought it would be a challenge to sew something entirely by hand. You’ve given me hope that I can do it. Going to give it a try. Very excited. Thank you 🙏🏼

Love your defence of hand sewing!! :) I hate machines & don't own one, so hand sewing it is. Only, most people seem to think hand sewing is for crazy people only, or those with way too much time on their hands, both annoying attitudes. As you say here, hand sewing came first, machines only after, in fact a lot after, as *everything* was hand-sewn up to about 1860!

Thank you for finally showing me the secret to my grandmother’s even stitches 🤣! Whenever I’ve had to do a little hand sewing, I would try and try to get my stitches small and even like hers were, to no avail. When you explained how to get backstitches even, I understood how she did it, especially when you showed your finished stitches!!!

My grandmother taught me these things when I was 8 yrs old. Thx for the refresher. This hand stitching is therapy for me.

5:04 Knotting the thread-this is the most helpful sewing hint since I can remember. I've been bumbling along for decades, not knowing this wonderful, simple, time-saving tip! Thanks for saving me oodles of time!

I was in my (eek!) forty’s when I learned “hand sewing” was “couture!” Wish I knew that back in my Barbie cloths making days. I was quite good. And this is when I fell in love with the Art ❤️

THANK YOU!!! Your video is so simple yet I now find myself hand sewing my daughters clothing. It all started with needing to turn a pair of her pants into shorts. Thanks to you, she now has a new wardrobe in the making. I find hand sewing so relaxing and takes my mind off things I need to get away from for the evening. Bless you!

Thank you.I loved how you paused to collect your thoughts. You didn’t act silly or edit it out. Thank you. This certainly has encouraged me to do more by hand just for the calmness of it. Thanks again.

I'm sewing my sailboat canvas right now. Saving a ton of money. Thought it's more complicated and less fun! All thanks to you!

You had me at "very easy to transport"!! I live in a very small space with a toddler and I can't pull out the sewing machine and I'm always afraid that the baby or the dog finding something on the floor and putting it in their mouths. I can't wait to learn hand sewing and do small projects. Thank you!
