Hem fine and sheer fabrics by hand with this rolled hem tutorial.

Hand rolled hems give a couture finish to delicate fabrics such as silk and chiffon. In this example I am using cotton lawn.

Great tutorial and starting your sewing without a knot brought me back to sewing lessons at school in the fifties! We were never allowed to use a knot. We weren't taught a rolled hem though, but now I know. Thank you teacher.

Could you please show how to finish corners when roll-hemming all four sides of a piece of cloth as one might with a scarf or hanky? I was a little disappointed that you didn't show us how to do that in this video.

I used to be in too much of a hurry to hand stitch, I was all about the finished project, use the machine, get it done. I feel the enjoyment of taking the time to be doing things myself now, taking the time to do a nicely rolled hem or fix a hole by hand. Thank you for this tutorial

Fantastic tutorial - by far the clearest demonstration I've seen on doing a rolled hem. I'm about to tackle hemming a silk chiffon dress I made using an original Vogue pattern from 1939.
