His demeanor is so perfect for the funeral home business. So kind and soft spoken but clear

Right after this clip ended, the judge gave him the 5000 dollar judgment. But he knew that there was no real winners in this one given how tragic the whole situation was. The two of them only had kind words for each other and held no hard feelings towards each other.

This makes me sad. She's obviously still grieving and he doesn't look like he is enjoying having to take her to court, but he obviously needs his services paid for. She doesn't seem angry at him either, she just didn't have the money. The one nice thing about this though is that from what I understand, coming on the show means the show actually pays the money, so he'll get what he's owed, but she won't suffer financially because of it.

I would've taken the free option and had a private prayer at home with friends and family.

Judge Judy must love this guy, he’s so well spoken and gets right to the point.

I have never heard of a funeral home offering free funerals. That's so kind of them.

We did a $2000 one for my mom. It represented her perfectly. She was a simple woman and I know she was happy with it. Love you momma 🥰

Unfortunately, someone has the burden of paying for a funeral. Very sad.

Having worked as a Funeral Director ( full-time now part-time) I can fully understand both sides of this tragic story. This grieving Mom was offered a free service but refused genuinely believing that she could raise the money through friends. A very painful experience for her and an embarrassing one for the Funeral Director having to take this route. Two very nice people in a terrible situation.

Funeral directors are so awesome, they always are so calm and collected and caring. I've never met one that isn't. We have at least 6 in our small city and they're all so cool and kind.

My uncle had a free funeral and it was extremely nice- they set him up in a small viewing room and we were able to take our time and say goodbye. I actually preferred that experience to the one other wake/funeral that was paid for for another relative years ago. The more relaxed environment allowed us to grieve much more naturally and I fondly remember holding his hand and us chuckling through tears that even in death he was giving us a mischievous smirk.

Gotta feel bad for both parties in this because he did not want to sue her any more then she didn’t want to be there and not pay

I thought he was going to be a creep but he is actually a sweet person.

She should've taken the free service if she was financially struggling.

She should have accepted the offer. Having said that. Imagine not having the money to bury your own child. Its terrible.

I am a single man working my ass off but never made any big money sadly. If my mother passed I would not be able to afford a big funeral service either. It sucks being poor

I feel for any parent who loses a child but she was offered a FREE funeral, and she didn’t want that. Oh well.

His voice is giving me flashbacks of when I had to call around after my father’s death. Settled on the cremation/funeral home with a woman who answered with this upbeat voice and kept calling me ‘sugar’. She made me happy every time I called that funeral home. That happened four years ago, and I still think about how much a joy that woman was.

I have a new respectful view of Funeral directors because of this dignified man.

I wish I had that kind of an offer when my husband died. I had 3 little mouths to feed, barely had money, and his life insurance company didn’t pay for the funeral as I was not the beneficiary. I had to empty my savings, borrow from my dad, and sell my husbands car just to pay for the funeral. Almost 9k later and I couldn’t afford his marker which was an additional 3k. This was a simple burial too. His side of the family said they would help but never did. Oh, and they wouldn’t proceed with the funeral until full payment was made. Sorry this mother lost her child but this funeral director seemed to go above an beyond to accommodate her yet she still stiffed him on payment. Maybe because of people like her the rest of us who would’ve been good for it don’t get any grace. Sad all around.
