Total Depravity - A Biblical & Historical Review, Definition & Criticism

Recently Warren McGrew of Idol Killer gave a presentation on the Doctrine of Total Depravity for a predominantly Portuguese speaking audience. This is a new, English only presentation of the materials he reviewed there. Warren will provide a definition, explore the history and development of Total Depravity, consider its Scriptural merit and offer criticism.

He would never let our children sing Jesus loves me because he said God didn’t love them as they were wicked sinners. Calvinists need to learn that just slapping a heretical label on their opponents isnt working anymore. If they called me a pelagian. I would say, "so what." The critique needs to be more substantive.

That was amazing. I had not studied the “early” church fathers much, and, as others have commented, realized much of my interpretation was not really mine at all; rather, what I’ve heard from others and taken at face value because of their position. Not a very good Berean at all. Such an eye-opener—thank you for taking the time to research and put this together.
