For anyone panicking, it only weakens the earth’s magnetic field somewhat and the process itself is fairly fast. The bigger problem would be that the magnetic poles would be reversed (m-North-pole in the South-pole and vise versa) meaning compass, some maps and a lot of systems need to be updated
