This Nissan Pathfinder has been stalling and losing power when hot, lighting up the dash like a Christmas tree.

Luckily it stored a trouble code P0340, so we have great direction to start the troubleshooting.

Join me as I narrow down the problem and show the 100% verified repair.

Enjoy!

My Nissan Pathfinder have the same P0340 and stalling, cranks long, etc. Did replaced camshaft sensor to no avail. Did some research and found Nissan have a recall for stalling issue. It calls for ECM relay replacement. I ordered the relay (less than $10) and it fixed my problem. Do replace the relay before buying the expensive camshaft sensor.

Dude as a former diesel mechanic having a 345 on my nissan and the same weird symptoms and issue popping with VDC/Slip and some times ABS I was so lost why those would be tripping on a cam sensor fault. And not having access to a good diaq was rough trying to pin point what was going on cause I had JUST redid the whole front brake system a month prior and started to second guess myself like ohhhh crap did I mess up the ABS on those wheels and cause a problem now cause I didn't know the codes were just C1109 and C1130. I didn't want to do the sensor til I know for sure I don't like to just throw parts at broken vehicles til they run right. Thanks to you posting this and it randomly popping in my suggested I now know the ABS/VDC/Slip lights are all just low voltage faults from the stutter of the cam sensor faulting out and is nothing. You just saved me an expensive diaq fee thank you so much for the awesome in depth video.

I have a nissan xterra 2005 and the same thing is happening to me that this Pathfinder has. Nearly all the lights are on the dash and the engine light sometimes comes on or stays off. Stalled on me 4 times last night while driving, was hard to control the steering wheel when it shut off. Its got to be the Crank Sensor or the Camshaft sensors. I'm so happy I finally found a video on this! I spend nearly 1800$ trying to get it fixed at a nissan dealership yet they didn't even fix the sensor, as a college student on a budget...its hard. I don't even want to take it on the highway for fear of it going out infront of a semi-truck. But now I can get it fix, THANK YOU!

You're awesome. I just pulled into AZ, had the codes pulled, and both sensors were throwing codes. Yours was the first video that came up. All the same symptoms. I'll watch out for hoses. 🤨👍

Cheers!

Takes a little longer but I remove the fender liner and it is right there. Some of us, with bigger hands, need a little extra room.
I have seen this tubing issue a number of times so I stay away from that area as much as possible, and I work at a dealer. Nice call and testing done in this video.

This is an absolutely excellent video. Great Diagnostics. A precise match to what I've been experiencing with my 2005 Xterra. Thank you for what you do

Daughter/student driver had this problem on our 2005 Path (same color you have on video)...I was on the passenger side, she said the truck won't stop which freaked us both. The truck eventually stopped after i shifted to Park. I tried starting a few times...eventually it started but a bit sluggish. Check engine, SLIP and VDC/OFF lights on... This seems to be similar. Thanks for the video and the tip...

You speak so fluently English and Russian. No doubt you learned them as a child. Lucky you, I would be interested in learning Russian have got some Russian relatives. Your a great diagnostician also.

Hey I really like ur videos. I have questions for you in this topic. I have 06 Nissan frontier and check engine light came back with code to change passengers pos sensor so when ahead and changed all 3 sensors. Changed 2 cam pos sensors and the crank pos sensor. Engine light went off but now when starting the truck have long crank time before truck starts up. Any idea what problems might be. Thanks again

My 350z had the same P0340/intermittent stall issue last year and is a common failure on Nissan engines. The slip and TCS lights go on when the stall occurs. The other 350z owners on the Nissan forums recommended replacing both camshaft position sensors and the crankshaft position sensor since they claimed that those parts would probably fail too. They also recommended that I use the Hitachi sensors rather than the cheap aftermarket sensors. BTW, Autozone sells an aftermarket camshaft sensor (for Nissan) with a lifetime warranty for ~$100 but some people on youtube claim that sensor fails prematurely. I bought the three sensors on Rockauto for ~$100 plus shipping but I only replaced the failing camshaft sensor at first. The other camshaft sensor failed about six months later so I also replaced the crankshaft sensor while replacing the second camshaft sensor. The hardest part about replacing the camshaft sensor on a 350z is removing the funky Nissan connector from the sensor. It's hard to remove the connector with one hand but it can be done without removing the throttle body and other air cleaner parts. The crankshaft sensor is very easy to access from the bottom of a 350z and can be replaced in less than 30 minutes.

Just had this happen to my 07 Maxima 3.5. did the same thing your truck doing start it up after setting four about a month. Hard start. Car cut off never done that b4. Start back up cut off when slip vdc light came on. I already replaced bank 1 can shaft sensor. So I replaced all three sensor. Even the one on transmission. I also noticed I tried to pass another vehicle car started to stutter no power I figured it needs new spark plugs and coil. After replaced all sensor took battery cable off let set for 10 mins no lights on . About hr. Driveing light came back on . Will do a complete tune up see will it help. Nice video. Dude.

Awesome! I just came from an emergency call on an infinity f35 with p0345 and it's buried under the throttle body on the drivers side on that one and I couldn't get the connector out lol. It was way easier for me to go to the ecm.cleared the code and I scoped it and had the same pattern when engine was cold...was running great then the cel came back on for the p0345 and the signal was lost! This video confirms my diagnosis! Thanks! When I won't be doing the sensor install I always second guess myself and check out the YouTubes afterwards lol.
