I remember when the fuel pump in my 2000 maxima went bad. I was gonna pay my guy $600 to fix it, until I did a lil research and found out how easy it was to change out myself. Needless to say, I saved over $570 (the fuel pump without the filter was less than $30) and I learned a very valuable lesson from that entire experience

The bottom line is, you're better off with a simpler 1980s car that can still be fixed at home. Those dependant on garage services shall drain your bank account.

Great video as always Scotty! Just to share my little experience back in August. Same exact problem on my Corolla, car shuts down randomly and no trouble codes.After weeks of checking, I managed to isolate the problem to the fuel pump system. Later we found out the cause was a bad 12v wire to the fuel pump as it was stripped and corroded somewhere in the middle.

My 07 Tahoe died on me on an intersection, I had to change the throttle body and the pedal sensor which is the whole pedal. Thank god for a 65$ dollar OBD from auto zone. love your videos Scotty

Scotty, I must say, I love your videos! I have a 1989 Ford Ranger that I was fixing up to use as a recreational vehicle. My Ford explorer died yesterday on me.... I just had the fuel pump replaced a week ago and the coolant system. The check engine light was on afterwards but I assumed it was due to the code not being cleared since the work was just done and the light wasn't on prior to that. Love your content Scotty! I don't look stupid when I come to my mechanic.
