Thank you! Unfortunately, for each person like you on the Internet, there are thousands of ”influencers” and ”tiktokers” who talk about stuff they know NOTHING about 😞

Social media can convince you that you're broke, ugly, and lonely. Please take everything with a grain of salt. ♡♡

I had "moon face" not too long after my kidney transplant, and yes, I was put on Prednisone, but then I was tapered out of it. My face looks fine now, but in the beginning of my post transplant recovery, my moon face was quite evident. I still take Prednisone, but I take the minimal amount of it. And thankfully, I still have my donated kidney 15 years after the transplant!

My son got Cushing’s from his asthma inhaler. He had the worst asthma as a child but he must have gotten better while staying on the same regimen. He went from tall and slim to short, overweight, tired and depressed. Thankfully his growth chart looked weird enough for an endocrinologist to react. He bounced right back as soon as we stopped the inhalations 🎉

Edit: do NOT be scared to treat your asthma though! It’s extremely important to take care of. My son just turned out to be very sensitive, most people are not.

I remember when my mother was hospitalized and was on cortisone to prevent brain swelling. She rapidly developed moon face. The moon face does not look just puffy. The neurologist spoke about it while I was present. After the cortisone was stopped the swelling of my mother's face went down and she returned to her normal looking face.

Some days I just get so mad that social media was ever invented. For every good advice influencer too many “sheep” follow whatever greedy “poser” out there. Again thankful for Dr Dray!

I had cortisol/moon face from long term, high dose steroid use. It’s finally getting better.

I’m so relieved to hear that some amount of stress is good for us 😅

I'm in remission from Cushing's Disease, and I appreciate that you are sharing facts about this. So many people are worried about elevating their cortisol to Cushing's levels through normal activities. That's not how any of this works. I was worried when I saw the title of the video, but I should have known that I could count on you for the truth.

RN says: Thanks for the great patient teaching Dr. Dray. I too was confused by this new TikTok trend of “cortisol face.” As healthcare providers, we have seen real and extreme “moon face” secondary to long duration, high dose administration of corticosteroids. My present concern is the large group of persons who are now frightened to death, (thanks to Tik Tok fear mongering) to use a short term 48-72 hour course of OTC 0.5% topical cortisone cream for puritis, hives, a rash or 5:07 (appropriate to us here speaking about skin care) a small skin barrier disruption from a few too many actives in our skin care (Mea culpa!). Might you address this? You are able to clear up so much fear mongering information out there. ❤️

Dr Dray! How did you know I have a patho exam later this afternoon on Cushings! I’m getting ready for my day while listening to you and feeling like I’m doing some light hearted review. You’re the best!

I don’t know what this means, but literally just dropped my dog off at the vet an hour ago because she is being tested for Cushing’s Disease. This gave me some comfort coming from Dr. Dray.

27 years after having surgery for a prolactinoma, I can say that your video is the best information I received. It explains everything I had, the moon face from steroids, the buffalo hump etc.

My son dealt with this at 11 years old. He started a 1 year prednisone treatment. He was on 60mg daily and within 1 & 1/2 months his face was round. He is 22 now & still deals with the insecurities from that year of life. I as his mother am thankful for the treatment. His “bloody shows” stopped and kicked his kidney disease into remission.

Yet another reason I don't do social media. Good grief! Hopefully your video will reach some of the people convinced they have "moon" face. Happy Monday, Dr Dray! Have a blessed evening. 💕

It reminds me of when I had alopecia years ago. My dermatologist prescribed me with this steroid medicine in pills form and injection form. Over time, my face grew bigger and rounder and becomes hairy for no reason. I panicked and thought it was PCOS. My body on the other hand became smaller and skinnier for no reason. When I stopped the medicine, my face is normal again and no longer puffy and hairy. Thanks for the video, Dr Dray. For so long, I’ve been searching the answer and I’ve got it now.

Happy Monday, Dr. Dray!😎 Very informative useful information, I have hypothyroidism. It’s regulated taking Synthroid daily. I’ve noticed since I quit drinking four years ago, my face is definitely not as puffy, and my liver is normal now and not slightly fatty as it was for years years. Thank you so much for the post.

i was diagnosed with a long term stress condition and stress definetely damaged my skin barrier for years. It was both extremely oily and acne ridden but also dehydrated. It was like it wasn't taking in moisture or reacting much to skincare products at all. then when i stopped working due to stress, suddeny my skin cleared up. definetely not cortisol face though.
