We had a farm out on a ridge in Tennessee. My neighbors taught me canning. The cucumbers in my garden got. Canned. They gave me sacks full of tomatoes which didn’t grow at all in my garden and they helped me can them. My garden produced lots of green beans and I canned many jars of green beans. It was fun freezing corn, black eyed peas and okra. I cooked pinto beans and canned them in pint jars and took boxes of the beans and dill pickles to my son at Tennessee Technical University in Cookeville! That was a great time. My husband raised beef Cattle and we had the best beef for the table. Every other week our children came to our house for dinner. I made humongous dinners with roast beef, mashed potatoes, three other vegetables, homemade bread and Apple pies. I made enough that each of our 3 children could take home a meal and a pie. Those were great days.

The jar lifter has the silicone bit on the the round bit thats there to fit around the jar, the other side is the handle

You have to cut off the blossom end, or the cucumber enzymes will make the pickles soft over time. They look yummy.

My family's addicted to my homemade pickled okra. They expect them for all holidays and special occasions. I know every family has that one family member who makes that one special item. I finally made one day in summer when we gather and pickle okra. It's not a secret anymore. It's a special occasion that has rewards throughout the year.

In Russia, this is a classic recipe for pickled cucumbers, but we also add sugar. Sugar improves and softens the taste of salt and vinegar, which gives cucumbers a brighter and more pleasant taste!
It also doesn't hurt to add black peppercorns and a little allspice (pimento).

There are fermented pickles meant to eat quickly. These are brined canned pickles.But must have an official canning lid that seals completely, for safety.

They look amazing! I usually have 3-4 that size in refrigerators. They last a year. Just in time for the new ones to get pickled ❤

You should be using twice a much Vinegar as water. Otherwise its not Acidic enough and you run the risk of Batulism even work boil seal.

It depends what kind of pickles you want. We polish put 1 tbs of salt for 1 litre of water. And they are also very very tasty. That's of all recepie, you do your way I do my way
