I realize that a setup becomes a matter of individual desired playability but it's great that you give your measurements, and Fender's suggested measurements as a basis.
Thanks for the great help. Getting familiar with the details you present will make it easy for the student (namely me) to eventually customize his own desired setup.
Thanks a bunch.

This made me setting my Strat for metal a lot easier. I’m used to guitars with a full locking trem but the fretboard radius is between the 15.75 to 20 radius which make it easier when it comes to string height perpendicular to the jumbo frets. So thank you for this. Worked perfectly.

Just got myself a vintage Squire which was playing pretty good. After watching this and a few other set up videos I decided to check the guitar. It wasn’t far out but after a few hours I now have a lovely action and a sweet sounding instrument - all for the princely sum of £80 ! It now needs new strings and perhaps a pick-up upgrade to make it even sweeter. You can’t beat a bargain Squire set up nicely.
Thanks for the info it’s been very useful 👍

Thanks for this! Just got back into playing guitar after many years, and never really bothered to set my guitars up back then. It seemed really hard to play for some reason, measured at the 12th fret and there's a whopping 6mm between the string and fret!

I use to run fenders all the time when younger I had to refresh My memory cause I have not worked on Fender in about 10 years. I always every fender Squire I get I always fix it where bridge won't float I don't run tremolo bar I just did that to Mine I like My strings if it's 9 a little high I like fender withbthe Allen wrench with no measuring tool it's easy to get the stri gs even when changing height. I notice just a little fret buzz with My new one so as to be expected just a little and unfloated the bridge and I raised the strings 10 thousandths. Sounds awesome no buzz anywhere some people would not like to play the way I run action but it's comfortable to Me. I'm glad I went back to fender I have never had a minutes problem out of anyone that I have had and now My new one is set for Me and ready to song write. I can't say enough good things about Fenders even Squire model like I have. Peace and Godbless playing Your fender.

Did you remove the capo from the first fret before measuring the string action at the 12th fret?

Do you lower the saddles with the guitar in tune, or to you slacken, adjust & retune?

But if you raise or lower the string height then you're going to have to readjust the intonation, right?

I have tried a bought one degree angle shim, still no luck. But I am going to increase the angle of the shim using the side of my bench grinder. And will fit it again with the lower side of the angle towards the headstock. Changing the angle of the neck that way. Maybe that will work.

What should one do if one's truss rod is circular

Did you take capo off when you adjusted the action? Thx

Both of these videos are the best I found on the subject.

When talking about string action, normally I've seen people only mention the string action for the first and the 6th string, is there a reason for this? What about the remaining strings? Should you set the action for the remaining 4 to taste or should you setup all treble strings the same height and the bass strings the same height? Great video btw!!

What's your trust rod measurements again? 1.2? Do you get string buzz or choke in the higher frets with that 1.25mm all throughout the rest of the strings?

Thank you for your help! My guitar feels so much easier to play. I've been playing it the way it came out the box thinking it was set up properly 😭
