Oi put a capo on the first fret and press the low e into the last fret. It’s an easy way to check if your truss rod is good or not.

I've got to obtain some precision gauges, get correct trussrod adjustment practice, and start learning how to do proper setups. For years, I've mainly eyeballed it, and have put up with high action! I've done alright, but think I could have done better. A friend of mine had his Strat PLEKed, and swears by it!

As a former machinist, I prefer to measure in decimal inches. It makes a lot more sense to say 0.010 or a tenth

2mm - 2.4mm on bass string.
1.6mm - 2mm on treble.

TF is with these huge ass inches being used for precise measurement?

Used these measurements and strings buzz like crazy. Set the truss rod to standard measurements and to set the action a capo on 12. From there i just raise the action till no more buzz + 1/8 turn. Right or wrong it worked and plays well.

I have a fender strat and an older cheap rock jam one. Since I got my fender, I play it all the time. I picked up my old one and started playing it the other day and haven't picked it up since because the action is so high. I don't know if it was always that high.
Do you know how I can reduce it?

Fun stuff to play with, 5 and 4 is about where I'm at. Thing about running super low action is there's no headroom for pick dynamics, it just frets out and kills the tone.

When it comes to seting up my guitar, I go all the way down to where it frets out...then fiddle with it till its not fretting out. I use no measuring tools...I go by feel, because at the end of the day "feel" is all that really matters, am'i right?
