The Best Way to Do Lateral Raises!

Compared to other free-weight lateral raise variations, this exercise puts the deltoid under tension for a greater portion of the range of motion, making each rep more effective. It also places greater overload at the top of the movement.

Wow. That feels so much better doing a lateral shoulder raise this way. Right on!

great tip on the far away pull versus raise. thanks

Stand up still, then lean to one side using your off-hand to grip on to something. There's the difference.

I wonder if using a cable cross originate the pull from the bottom, will gain more resistant and give a pull all time ?

Even though the ROM is greater, you get less tension at the bottom when the delt is lengthened, and if anything you end up engaging the lats a bit when your hand gets close to your hip

There’s actually more resistance through the complete range of motion if you lean away from the dumbbell

Why do we always stop the lateral rises half way ? Should I we keep going higher as his showin in video ? We do we always do it the normal tradition way of that makes sense

Is it better to do lateral raises like this leaning?

Is it okay to, instead of keeping the feet together, allow the leg on the side of the dumbbell to come out? It seems like we could take some weight off the hand gripping the bar this way.

I don't see how this keeps traps out of the movement though, the scapulae are clearly rotating and you can see the traps shortening here.

Is there any difference if you have your opposite hand higher or lower steadying yourself?

Whats the differences in standing Lateral Raises and Leaning Lateral Raises?

Could you lean against a bench instead?

Noooo, the difference is the lean increases the range of motion, if you did this standing straight up you would have to raise the DB above your head which would take the delt out of the movement at the contraction which is the most important part of this movement. +Grimmsley Costello +VampireLewisNight

Sooo...no significant diffrence at all? Do it one way or the other, it doesn't matter as long as you do it.
