Are you tired of all the confusion in the Catholic Church? So was I! For this reason, I decided to intensely study the Catholic Magisterium in order to discern between what people say about the Catholic Church vs. what it actually says and teaches. If you are a confused Catholic, or are discerning becoming a Catholic, Reason & Theology offers you an in-depth examination of the situation in the Catholic Church that will help make sense of the confusion.

I have pics of my kids in my wallet. At times, i take them out n look at them and kiss them.
Now i know that i am kissing only a piece of paper or plastic but the act helps me to actually think of what the picture represents. It helps me remember my kids.
We are not merely spiritual creatures. We are soul AND body. We need physical stuff to remind us of spiritual stuff. No harm in that.

Likewise, our veneration of statues.

Then what's this "praying for intercession? Why not just pray to Jesus Christ directly? To God in heaven directly?

When some protestant Just do the Basic Red Herring to avoid being asked or to induce curiosity amoung their communities about "what's Eucharisty anyway", like a taboo.
You stop anyone at "anti-saints arguments" then avoid talking about the next subject, which really defines what adoration really is.

Having a cult idol, like a statue to be worshiped and served, is forbidden by God. It is already a sin of idolatry condemned by God. Israel had idols in the past which causef God to punish and chasten this people who were addicted to idolatry. Even today, idolatry is so rampant in the major religions of the world. Please meditate on the following verses with the help of the Holy Spirit: Lev. 26:1; Deut. 7:26; 16:21, 22; 27:15; Ezek. 16:31; Dan. 3:1. God directly mentioned, discussed and condemned idolatry in around 1, 600 verses in more than 300 chapters of the Bible. Idolatry is one of the worst sins that we should repent of and avoid if we are to please the only sovereign Creator and Judge of the universe. Our personal opinions don't matter, but we must submit to the truth of God's Word.
Lord, please open our spiritual eyes so that we won't be deceived. Amen.

Statues are not forbidden, I just don't think they are necessary in a spiritual context as per New Testament

Where in the old Testament and new testament did God ordered you to create a statue of the saints and Jesus to bow down and kiss to it

158 THE SYNOD OF JERUSALEM 1672

And if some say we commit idolatry in
adoring the Saints, and the Eikons of the
Saints, and the other things, we regard it as
foolish and frivolous. For we worship with
*LATRIA* the only God in Trinity, and none
other ; but the Saints we honour upon two
accounts : firstly, for their relation to God,
since we honour them for His sake ; and for
themselves, because they are living images of
God. But that which is for themselves
hath been defined as of *DULIA* . But the holy
Eikons [we adore] relatively, since the honour
paid to them is referred to their PROTOTYPES.
For he that adoreth the Εikon doth, through
the Εikon, adore the prototype ; and the
honour paid to the Εikon is not at all divided,
or at all separated from that of him that is
pourtrayed, and is done unto the same, like that done unto a royal embassy.

That's not what the commandment says. It says you shall not make a graven image. Doesn't say anything about bowing down to it.

And, besides, golden angels are super cool.

If images are accorded merely relative honor, then all images of Jesus would be accorded the same honor, and images of him should be accorded more honor than those of anyone else. But not so. Certain images have miraculous powers attributed to them. Thus the book Pèlerinages célèbres aux Principaux Sanctuaires de Notre-Dame, by the Society of Saint Augustine, speaks, not of the “saints, ” but of the images themselves as being miraculous. It says that St. Louis gave to the basilica at Puy “a miraculous statue that he had brought back from the holy land.” And it calls the images of Notre-Dame de Grâce at Lille “miraculous” images.

I had a lot of these questions and I went to RCIA. If people are really that curious they should too, so they can get that one on one understanding.

"We know that there is only one God."
"So, what's up with there being God, Jesus, and a spirit-thingie that can get Earth women pregnant?"
"They're all the same thing."
"That doesn't make any sense."
"It doesn't have to. It's a Mystery. It's faith."
"So Jesus was his own Father?"
"No. Jesus was God in human form. It's a Miracle."
"So who was Jesus talking to when he talked to God? Wouldn't that make them two different things and a violation of the 1st Commandment? And I'm still unclear on the spirit-thingie."
"It's like water being ice or steam. It's still water, but it is different forms."
"Not at the same time. And it still doesn't answer who he was talking to."
"He was talking to himself. When you talk to yourself, who is the you and who is the yourself?"
"Me. But I don't call myself Father."
This is a literal conversation I had with my Catholic Nana when I was ten. It goes on like this... for a while.

God told them to do it. God may tell you to do things you can't do by your own will. As usual, I rather will do things God tells me to do than things people says you should do for whatever "good" reasons.

Protestants can't explain Exodus 25:18-20, 1 Chronicles 28:18-19, Ezekiel 41:17-18, Numbers 21:8-9.

The simplicity of the _Sprachspiel_, and Lexicon in general, of Protestantism, becomes evident in these shorts. I can't anymore imagine me subscribing to them, although I was raging-ish-ly anti-old-church most of my life.

You don't pray to saints you can go directly to the Boss himself.. pray to the Father in Jesus name... that's what Jesus said himself.. everyone including non Catholics have gone thru people for help in one way or another other than God himself.. get a new testament
And read John, Acts then Romans.. all who call upon the Name of the Lord shall be delivered..
