Americas Test Kitchen put this recipe out many years ago. It is quick and always been a winner for me. Blessings!!!

I am 73 years old and miss my mom's biscuits that she made with a large bowl of self-rising flour, a hunk of shortening in a well in the center, and buttermilk. (Nothing was measured.) After combining what she needed to make the best textured biscuits ever, she would "pinch" off the dough, in exactly the same amount for each biscuit, pat out the dough, and lay it in a lightly greased cookie sheet. She would put the remaining flour in the bowl back into the pantry. I tried several times to make biscuits like she did, but they always turned out like rocks. (My mom said that she began making biscuits at the age of five???) I just made these biscuits and they were light and wonderful!! I cannot believe that "I CAN MAKE BISCUITS!" I am an excellent cook, so this rounds out my cooking skills. Thank you very much.

I've been making biscuits for 35 years. I found this recipe last year and it changed my biscuit world. The best ever and so much easier than cutting in shortening or butter. Hubby says it's the best darn biscuit he ever put in his mouth. I made the old fashion kind a few weeks ago with sausage gravy and he asked ...what happened to the biscuits!? Definitely worth the extra cost. I love watching your channel. You always make me giggle.

I tried this recipe a couple months ago and was as surprised as you at how good they were. I am 81 have been baking biscuits longer than I can remember. The one this I like about it, it is quick. I still like my buttermilk biscuits but these were very good too. Thanks for sharing, I know you have taught a few young ladies (or gentlemen) how to make a biscuit that grandma will be proud of. Have a Blessed day.

As an Australian, a biscuit is a cookie for us 🤣. But based on your recipes for “biscuits” in America, this is how I’ve always made them. Self raising flour is so versatile and adding cream stops you having to put in butter and cut it in etc. I even use this recipe as a dumpling on top of a chicken stew etc

Been making these for years since seeing it done at a Pampered Chef party! I sometimes add dried buttermilk to the heavy cream to give them extra punch. My recipe only uses one cup of cream to two cups of flour. That might be why yours were so sticky. My Nana had an incredibly tiny kitchen with zero space to roll out biscuits so she pinched off little bits of dough and patted them in her hands. She made biscuits every day of her life. Self rising White Lily, crisco and whole milk buttermilk. Divine!

You can always make your own self rising flour blend too and use a bit less salt 🧂

Patara, you never cease to put a little sunshine in my day! No matter what the day is like, I know I can watch your videos and smile. I thank God for you! My granny has always used the Hudson Cream flour, which I think is what her mother used also. Our grandmas and great grandmas had the whole biscuit thing down like it was nothing! My granny still has people driving across state lines for her biscuits! I'm still learning....at 40 years old lol! I'm just thankful they are somewhat edible (key word-somewhat!!) God bless ya beautiful lady!!

A little something for the younger generation (and perhaps some older), if your granny makes biscuits by hand, be sure and nab a pic of her hands making them. You have no idea how much you will cherish it when they are no longer with you.

I made similiar biscuits this morning, but mine was 2 cups self-rising flour and 1 1/2 cup heavy cream and it worked great.

I watched this video when it first came out but never tried to make these. I'm 60 years old and have been cooking and baking since I was about 8 or 9. My biscuits have always turned out like Ellie May Clampet biscuits hard as a rock! I made these today and OH MY LORD IN HEAVEN They were AMAZING! Thank you Ms. Patara for turning me on to these (and my hubby thanks you too).

Love how you are teaching the kids "ways of life". I did the same and my kids and grandkids are very self sufficient with cleaning, cooking, raising kids of their own. Love your channel.

My boyfriend from Dublin Ireland says biscuits are cookies :) and says our biscuits are scones lol but he loves biscuits and gravy like crazy! I make mine Self rising and sour cream and they are yummy and smell and taste like buttermilk biscuits

We call those Scones. They taste really great with whipped cream and stawberry jam. Love your videos and your personality (your emotional intelligence) and what you do on your homestead. Thank you for sharing.

That's my favorite biscuit! I use 2 cups of sr flour and 1 cup of heavy cream. The absolute best flavor and they rise beautifully!!

Thank you for doing the cost analysis! So many ppl just give you recipes, but they don't bother to tell you that it will cost you 10x as much because of the cost of cream vs. milk. So very helpful!

They’re in the oven now. Looking good and so easy. Thanks for the tip about not twisting the cutter.
